Will You Pay for a Membership Blog?

Yes I am ready to make it free but do you think that I can generate good revenue from adsense and other affiliate programs? As I have mentioned earlier as the visitors are webmasters they wont click the ads.

 

You can still make money...But if you monetize it too much, too early on, you won't get any clicks at all.

There are literally endless possibilities to make a living from a good blog with a high readership (and Im not talking AdSense)

You have to do the hard part first though - Generate the high readership

 

I thought it is good to get a paid membership at dnforum
And got one, it is of no use sofar.

Ok I understand. Now tell me should I make the blog private (means visible to free members only) or should make it visible to search engines also (means no membership required to read the blog)

 

Make it visible to everyone (especially Search Engines). How do you propose to market a blog, no one can see - and don't say here because there are a bunch of cheap bastards, errr, I mean shrewd webmasters here.

 

Okay I will go forward with this plan then.. and will make the blog public

 

Once you hit 500 uniques a day, post again asking for advice on how to start making serious money. I bet you get more strategies and techniques then you can handle

One thing more important than traffic is influence.

 

What do you mean by that?

 

Influence will launch it but it won't sustain it. I get your point but most likely people with influence got it by already offering something of value.

Yes thats why I was thinking about giving free web hosting and domain names. To add value to the package

 

Right on the point... Influence is very important, but it is worthless if you cannot execute it properly.

 

The blog itself doesn't really add much value. I buy Chinese food for the taste, not because I get to eat it with cool chopsticks.

Leave it free for anyone to read. The only peple that I believe can sell subscriptions is shoemoney and seopedia.com

If you are worried about making money before you have any traffic then you are unlikely to get very far.

Concentrate on getting a thousand RSS readers before you even think of adding any monetization to the site.
