Yahoo Search Marketing conversion rates

I have heard that Yahoo Search Marketing has higher conversion rates than Google AdWords. I have also heard that Google is getting pretty expensive. So as far as conversions are concerned would it be better to go with Yahoo Search Marketing instead of Google AdWords?

I agree with what you said. Google Adwords is very expensive and i got most of my clicks from Yahoo. where i can bid as low as $0.10. For Google Adwords, i'm asked to bid $1 or $5 to get a keyword active.

Irrespective of bid prices, YSM has usually had better conversion rates.

I'm with you. My only hope with Google Adwords now is the "content network"

I was an Adwords user but recently I donot know why Google blocked my account. Even after several mails I never got any reply as to what was the reason that they blocked my account, so I have shifted to YSM just a few days back. Results seem to be pretty positive. The number of clicks are less but they seem to be more worthwhile :)

As far as I know using google content network is not a good idea. You would get a lot of clicks and your ROI will be very very low.

I would say--- just test and tweak on google adwords. Be very very specific with the keywords and you will get good returns.

Dont become desperate and jump into something .

    bye,

Suggestion for beginners are to off the content network,in most cases, google may still be the best PPC and it all depend on how you maximise your convertion rate.

The quality score of the page has a lot to do with AdWords click prices now, too. If you can improve that, your click prices can go way down...

I would stay away from the content networks of both YSM and Google - unless you can make more money just by someone landing on your page and leaving that it takes you to get them there.

The content networks seem to pull much lower quality traffic - lower CTR and conversions

I've always seen better conversion from yahoo compared to google, but I think it comes down to how the user sees each search engine.

I still think the average user thinks of google more as an information resource then a shopping resource. They go to google when the want to find, research, and learn about something. If they happen to find a place to buy while there, great, but if not no loss. That's why froogle has such a hard time, people don't think shopping when they are on google.

yahoo on the other hand has made no secret over the years that you can shop and play on yahoo, so people searching on yahoo tend to think a little more about buying when searching there.

Even I get good conversions from Yahoo sometimes but basically it depends on the product/services you are offering.
