Adsense Advice- Stop Being Lazy!

This advice does not apply to every one. But it does apply to a lot of the Noobs here who are asking for adsense review.

Instead of just signing up for adsense, placing it randomly on your site, then asking everyone elese to tell you where to move it, try doing some research on your own like the rest of us who put a lot of time and effort in.

Get the book "The Adsense Code" By Joel Comm. Go to pro blogger.net. Read articles from all over the web. But don't just come here and have people place your ads for you.

That is my advice. you will see that it will pay off in the long run....

But in the meantime if you want to see some good placement see how i use content blending on my two blogs:
    theguitarresource.blogspot.com/
    and
    free-stuff-finder.blogspot.com/

That's good advice. I can also recommend actually reading the optimisation guidelines and TOS on the AdSense site instead of asking bone questions on here.

Come on gordon, why do you start such a thread, when you still have big problems running your guitare blog and targetting ads? Don't act here like an authority, this is dishonest....

First of all i am talking about ad placement. people make a site and then say "where should i place my ads" that is just lazy.

Second of all in terms of my targeted ads, i am asking b/c i have already looked everywhere else, read books, looked around online, and found nothing. I even asked google about it and they said that there is something wrong and they are looking into it. They said that for some reason one of my blogs is getting ads that belong on another blog of mine and they are supposed to get back to me with an answer. So i posted a post about it for some real advice, not b/c i am too lazy to look for answers on my own...

First, i think you meant to ask that the other way around, "so all noobs are lazy"
Second, they are if this is the first place they look for answers and they expect other people to place ads for them.

I am still a "noob" to some extent. i have been only doing adsense for 2 months. But before i started i read a book and did a lot of research online, and i did a LOT of expirimenting with placement and layout.

I would try one layout for a week and change, i tracked all my results over 6 weeks and i found out what works and what doesen't. I put some actual work in to it

I am not saying that you can never ask for advice here, b/c of course you should ask advice. But that should not be the only thing you are doing to help your placement. You should be expirimenting and researching. that's all i'm saying.

You shouldn't blame noobs who have no knowledge how things work in this webmaster world. You should motivate them. Such a thread is not motivating them That gives them the feeling that they are outsiders.... think about it.

I am motivating them. I'm motivating them to do some proper research and not put up a website and come here and post something like
"I just made this website, Where should i put my adsense?"
That just shows that they are lazy and want other people to do the work for them.

Or when i see someone say "Review my adsense placement" and i look a there site and they have one button or banner all the way at the bottom sidebar of a super long website and it is in the craziest colors, that just shows me that that person has made 0 effort to do some research on the topic, and i don't think that there is much to disagree about on that.

And i'm not saying that i don't give advice to noobs, if you go through the forum you will see that i have been giving these people advise on bledning and layout and such, but that doesn't mean i can't give them the best advice i have, which is to do their own research, and then ask questions when they are stuck or based on what they read.

When i started i spent some money on books, i spent a lot of time doing research. Now i am no pro or anything, but i put time and money into it. And if there is something i read about that i don't get or i want to get people's opinions on THEN i come to a forum like this and ask. But to just come here and have people place things for you is just lazy...

Well, when a high percentage of the new folks are getting into it to "get rich quick" with no effort I have to agree with the OP.

I make an effort to try to help the ones that are genuinely interested, and you can usually tell who they are since their sites usually tend to NOT be about forex, lawyers, mesothelioma, or whatever the high paying keyword du jour is.

The main problem is that there is a large amount of newcomers, think that it is easy to make money online. They don't know it better. So it would be in my oppinion better to tell them, that it is not true, and for to reply to those who really ask fundamental questions, to use the search. How should you know that they are lazy? If it is a repeating user who asks in a silly way, then I agree with you all. But don't put the people into one hue. That's wrong.

Part of the problem is that so many people get sold a bill of goods. They buy some ebook or program that tells them all they have to do is make sites and sit back and pick out your new Jag. I actually have more problem with those sorts who aren't (as you correctly say) telling people that it's not a free ride.

And the ones who do start...I wasn't lumping them all into one category and hope I didn't give that impression. Like I said, it's sometimes very easy to tell who is lazy. That's the type who comes in and posts something like "What niche should I make my adsense site about?" And just repeats the question over and over without doing an ounce of his own research into it.

Now I feel like an idiot for posting a question about my ad placement. :) However, I've been skulking in the forums for a long time -- I'm a newbie poster, not not a newbie to the topic.
