One Adsense Unit?

I've noticed a habbit some pro bloggers, who get high traffic, run when it comes to adsense. They only place one unit... two at maximum. Are CTR better this way, or are they just not focusing on adsense?

Of course they don't focus on adsense ;) When there are less units, they are also less overwhelmed with ad units. but I agree with the higher CTR w/ fewer ad units. I try to keep my units at a maximum of 2 (including ad link units)

I think it depends on how the ads are blended and where they are positioned.

What is the theory behind "fewer ad units=high CTR"? Suppose we are only speaking of adsense, which we also don't know if "this unit's click, will get us more money than that unit's click" because we don't know the exact rates for each ad...... how exactly would placing one unit get you more clicks than placing several "we are speaking about adsense only here"....

I can understand it if the talk is about other affiliate or network ads you have in your blog.... if you remove them, then adsense will get higher CTR... same goes for them if you remove adsense.... but if all is adsense, then how come this rule applies?

Also why do you prefer to use ad link units?

I'm also not sure how, but it is an established rule  .

I usually use up my full quota. Link Units are great on niche sites, as it expands the range of adverts. Text ads allow concentrated focused ads to appear. I believe the hghest paying click will appear at the top of the site, and the very last ad to surface shall be the least earning.

I would suggest, if you want to earn a high CTR, incorporate the full quota.

I know that the best ad unit to convert clicks in adsense, is the big square blended into the content, or right at the top of the site/blog (the place where it appears in your face without having to scroll down). This has been tested several times over and over again, but I don't want to place it in my blog.

I will use it in other niche sites. Right now I'm happy with my adsense performance. Ever since I changed it to this location (under post titles), I doubled my CTR.
