oscommerce rocks! easy to install, easy to use and a lot of addons. You just need to set up the right security and you will be safe.

 

its worked well for me and its safe as long as you set it up correctly.
password protect admin directory etc.

2 more things i wanted to know...

1. Where can i find the good security mods for oscommerc?
2. Is accepting payments through paypal is safe in oscommerce?

 

if you are installing a basic ms2.2 install you need the paypal ipn mod otherwise your customer detail can get lost, other than that just make sure you follow the install instructions to the letter.
Give me shout if you need any help i have a lot of experience with oscommerce.

If you're new to ecommerce and not too handy at web technologies, I suggest you stick w/ a hosted shopping cart solution. They all offer support and will take care for the backend, freeing you work on SEO, selling and gettign orders out the door.
