I've followed these steps... even spent a whole lot of time exchanging stumbles, submitting to directories, posting on forums, etc... everything I can think of.

My site is a hosted site with wordpress 2.1 installed, not the free wordpress.com blog.

I did setup a free blog on wordpress.com to do commentaries on the posts from the video blog site... with an pingback between them. I setup a free squidoo page to help try to promote it. I even started a community on bumpzee for funny videos.

The site has been live 2 days. Today I had 6 hits, one from a friend of mine.

So today I'll be adding like 10-15 videos, (probably 10-15 more tomorrow too) to build content. Right now I have like 6-7.

I haven't branded any videos yet... will that suddenly start getting me more traffic?

Thanks for this post btw, hope things start to pickup.

I'll have to give that a try. I'm also going to develop a WordPress template based on the site and provide it for free (with link back to my site of course).

it appears to me that google is turning a blind eye towards this youtube scraping, but i asked adsense support anyway... after a week of email exchanges:

Q: "...i want to put adsense
on the same pages as embedded video clips from youtube, metacafe,
break.com, google video, etc...what is google's specific policy on this issue? video is no longer listed in the adsense tos."

A: "...Unfortunately what you wish to do is not allowed under our policies.
Publishers may not display Google ads on web pages with MP3, Video, News
Groups, and Image Results or other copyrighted material for which they are
not the copyright owner or for which they have not received permission
from the copyright owner to publish.

Please note that it is our policy to respond to notices of alleged
infringement that comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
For AdSense publishers, if we receive a notice or otherwise have reason to
believe that your site is infringing, we may terminate your participation
in the program. More information about our DMCA process is available here
    http://www.google.com/adsense_dmca.html."

that is correct, per the adsense tos.

why not ask adsense support for yourself?

i think that there is too much at stake here to be listening to noobs and scammers who don't care about your adsense account... notice how they never quote the adsense tos directly?

the critters thread used to be legal, but google cracked down on that... will they crack down on this youtube scraping as well?

Like I said over and over, when it is uploaded to youtube, Youtube has permission from the uploader to show it, and anyone who uses youtube videos to embed, if that person doesn't want their video to show on other sites, they simply have to uncheck "allow others to embed"
You are given permission by the person checking "allow others to embed"

    adsense isnt a commercial gain
a video blog is not a commercial website
millions of videos are ebedded from youtube on pages which have adsense and many other types of advertising

you should tell google that myspace is breaking TOS by letting users embed videos from youtube for commercial gain
    they will laugh at you
google video probably has a large percentage of copyrighted videos

so whats your deal anyway danimal
its like you have something against these sites
do you run some type of video site and dont want compeditors or what?
    wheres the scam?

It's not commercial gain, commercial would mean that your selling the videos

prove it... show us where any relevant tos defines "commercial" as selling videos only, while allowing adsense.

lol... adsense pays you money and it isn't commercial gain? are you donating 100% of the money to charity? are you a non-profit organization?

    What is Non-Commercial Use?

its not commercial gain because your site is not meant for adsense. it's meant for entertainment.

You should not have copy righted videos on your site. Look what happened to Youtube they got sued by Viacom.
