The best web 2.0 cms Platform

Hi,

What do you think is the best WEB 2.0 cms platform (open source of course)?
by WEB 2.0 i mean that a user could get permission to submit his content

i would say Drupal, you can build most things in it

 

Drupal is a blog like CMS, I'm looking for an actual news CMS, like CNN.

i didn't make them but they are drupal

once you understand drupal, CCK and views you can make anything you want.

 

iyou can do it in joomla too.....both have learning curves and limitations....but doable

 

I'm familiar with joomla, and there are lotNlots of add-ons, i want to make a sort of look and feel like yahoo sports (the menu and sub menu's on the header), which to your opinion would be the easiest/fastest to modify (with an add-on on manually)

 

if it is the look you are going for, joomla is easy to template....we can make it look however you want....now for the addons for stat tracking that might be difficult

Drupal has a steep learning curve i only use it for my youtube like sites

 

Drupal is so much more than a blog like CMS. I was using Joomla and I may still in the future for some projects. But Drupal really is a full blown CMS that I find easier to manage then Joomla. I've been changing some of my Joomla sites over to Drupal. There is a learning curve like mnymkr said, especially if you have been using Joomla/Mambo, once you get it though you just might like it.

I guess it is apparent that my answer to your question is Drupal. Joomla would be my second choice.

If you have the time I would check it out, just do a quick fantastico install and see what you think. It seems akward at first but once you get the hang of it things move along nicely.

I would also be interested to hear the answer to this. I read a lot of people using Drupal to make social site's. Again let us know any little tricks or examples of social sites made in Drupal

 

a CMS is , well a CMS, content management system. if it organizes and displays our content then it has all it needs.

What makes Drupal really different from Joomla is this, Drupal has better ACL which really means you have more freedom in setting permissions for your users. It also has more freedom in linking items, or as we in web 2.0 world know it, taxonomy or folksonomy.

Joomla is much more rigid. Users can submit article but you would have to approve them

you can only classify items as section, categories content

Joomla easier, more templates, vibrant community

Drupal steep learning curve, few templates, tough community to break in to

Pligg is crap dont use it

 

i would go with joomla. I use joomla on most of my sites. It is not hard to use at all.
The one thing to remember is that you have to first set up sections, then catagories then content
