Blog Software I can use with my own FTP account

I am looking for free or paid software i can install on my windows computer which will allow me to maintain a blog but use my own ftp account.

i ahve only found software so far that connects to blogger.com etc.

Anything out there?

 

no need of software here...u r saying that you'll own the account.....get a new hosting account and install blogging softwares like wordpress in it......and u can use ftp.....to add files...and to post u can use blog publishing tool that would connect to blogs....

do u want a blog that you'll administer fromn desktop only.....(no web browser)

 

I am embarrassed to say that I am an accomplished web design and programmer but no idea about setting up blogs. (this blog is going to be for my own personla site not for clients)

However if wordpress allows me to create a blog one my own ftp servers I can most certainly look into that.

I have seen a few windows programmes that talk to wordpress but I was not aware until now that you could put them on your own ftp so I may just give them another look.

Yups mate you can easily set up a blog with Wordpress or Drupal .

i am a .NET programmer as well as a LAMP developer .

you need mysql and php and webspace to be able to run your own blog.

 

You should go for a host with fantastico cuz it automatically install which blog you like best. After that managing it shouldn't be a problem.

Wordpress is one of the easiest blogs to set up. I set one up for my website just a few days ago and it only took minutes. Just download wordpress, modify your wp-config.php with your database info, upload everything, do the install wizard, and that's it.
