Host don't like proxy sites mainly because of the load it causes on servers. It's just not fair in a shared environment.
There are also some abuse issues that they'd rather not deal with.

    Computerized:
That's a pretty broad question. Like "How do I make money online"
There are some good threads for running a sucessful proxy site around the forums. Try a search.
Maybe if I have time I'll put a bit of an article together.

How much did you pay for it? Can you give me a link to the thread?

Anyways, so who is everyone using for hosting their proxy sites? Its been hard for me finding a decent host who allows proxies. Also, what are your traffic/bandwidth usages?

I don't actually run any proxy sites but I do develop my own proxy script. I'm just curious what is meant by getting "blocked".. blocked by who/what? Surely if it's blocked by one school/work network, that has no effect on the rest?

@rodney88: There are a few Web Filter Software Companys like "Websense" . Many Schools and bigger Companys have such Software installed. If your site (Proxy,Porn sites,MySpace..) is blocked by Websense, it is also automatic blocked at many Schools...

I hope you understand my bad english :(

@all: Please check your phproxies wich worked for myspace in the past. I think the myspace code have changed again and all proxies who work in the past, don't work now.

Very nice proxy you have made rodney. I might have to try that one.

Getting blocked has alot of misconceptions.
The truth is that very few people know how sites get blocked. There is so many different ways a school or workplace could be handling this.

You can try disable option "Remove Scripts" - Works for me, log in and post commands.

More Designs/Templates and his script will have a large community

Yeah Happy Proxy looks also great but i don't pay so much for a proxy script.

Pesipunk made a good job, nice plug ins and a very fast script.

    Great conversation!

I've read hoping to find a solution for my latest pet project but unfortunately, I do not want to start my own network due to the time (& cash) required to do it right. So I need an existing proxy owner's assistance (or a couple owners).

Basically I've got a project that I want to proxify. I can (hopefully) send you a bunch of traffic and real users. This would end up more like a hub for proxies that users could come to and browse anonymously. I've never seen anything like this before (url coming after successful implementation).

I need a minimum of 20 proxies so if you have this amount (or not, multiple networks are ok) please PM me. All I would need is a text list of your proxy urls.

    Thx - EAD

Any proxy script that's not opensource should worry you.

There are security risks to be thought of and also development needs to continue or you could be left high and dry with a script that doesn't work.

Ah, right. Thanks for the explanation.

My script is still very much a work in progress so if there's any features I missed, I can probably add in before the next release (within reason, of course).

Il ike your script, its working fine for me, in the next days i will test 12-15 domains on my server, how much bandwith and load your proxy script uses.

The past hours i have try to convert my phproxy scripts to your script but that is very difficult. When you make this easy, the a lot of people will youse your script and many coders make templates and the you get tons of backlink from the templates.

    rodnet88:

A big one would be to have an editable list of sites that can hotlink through your submit form. All others by default cannot.

An seperate include file for popunder codes instead of having it in the index.

I don't do this but another widely requested one is to be able to block by IP ranges. Try maxmind for the database.

Don't over bloat it with stuff. Keep it simple and fast.
No admin panel, No themes, No youtube, etc.
