In the US a bison is also called a buffalo or an american buffalo.

No, there is a collection of nothing but stolen plagiarized material.

Willam Black: Ha ha ha ha. You dumb bastard. It's not a schooner... it's a Sailboat!

Lack of education still doesn't make a bison a buffalo.. :p

A schooner is a type of sailboat.. A bison is not a type of buffalo, its a bison..
The term buffalo properly applies only to the asian water buffalo and african buffalo.

You are right... however, being able to cite and backup your bs would be a much more solid point than just calling someone uneducated.

    Here, I'll back up mine:

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=define:buffalo

    From Princeton.edu:
If you are going to spew crap you should really, really check your references.

If I'm right i don't need to cite or back up anything. Its up to you to educate yourself. In American Western culture, the bison is commonly referred to as "buffalo"; however, this is a misnomer.

Is that some sort of joke that only unintelligent people get? Do you really think that pointing to the definition of misnomer shows that any particular word usage is one?

What are you, 13? 14? I seriously think you need to finish high school and get some honest education under your belt before you go criticising people's knowledge about crap you apparently are completely uninformed about.

The Princeton dictionary says you are wrong. If you have a problem then perhaps you should contact them and straighten them out, rather than insulting a sweet innocent member of this community like buffalo. She's had a rough enough time already being attack by softballs and getting caught stalking and whatnot.

"You were one of the Mean Guys in high school, weren't you, Michael?" :p

Come on guys! Lay off! Who really cares if the proper term is buffalo or bison? Get over it, both of you. I wasn't insulted, Michael. And watch who you are calling "sweet" and "innocent"! :p And what's the deal with me being caught stalking??
