If it's possible with your template, I'd use CSS to wrap the content around the big rectangle or square. The banner ads you're using now are amongst the poorest performers Adsense has.

You also may want to try putting AdLinks over in the menu (where people naturally look) on the left rather than crowding them in at the bottom of the page.

If your site were mine, i would go like this (see image)
As Hammerfall said, for some of us wraping the text to a box works better than the banner one.
But there are no identical sites who genereates the same money in the same way, it depends a lot on your visitors, and also depends on your try and test.

You'll start making money when you get traffic, the more traffic the more money (more or less...)

If you want to figure how ppl makes money from the web, here in DP there are lots of great people who have explained in many different ways they incomes. Pay-Per-Click (CPC) and Pay Per Impression (CPM/Cost per mil), Pay per sale (fixed), Pay per sale (percent) and so on ...

    Talking about your adsense:
Note its my oppinion, only my honest oppinion.

I will do it more simply, concentrated to the TOP of the page, where people is used to search for menus. Not aiming to recive false clicks, but aiming to captivate your visitors attention with a relevant ad. Using search blocks for little space areas, like menus, and for the post, using a box with wrapped text.

    Hope you like my changes:

I still think your ads are far too much intruding, they cut the article reading, in my opinion they won't work, if someone wants to read your article he finds it sliced. I prefer integrating ads instead of "in the middle of" ads.

Also you can use all ads permited by Adsense TOS, but you also can use less.

Also you can try crazyegg.com (a service that only requires you to put a javascript on your site, and generates a heatmap for your visitor clicks, very useful if you don't know witch zones get more attention) and see where do your visitors click, I recomend you to test it without adsense, and then post here your results, decide, and put adsense in hot places.

Remember that its only my little oppinion!
