How can I have an SMS sending service on my website?

As an addition to my website, I want to have an area where the visitor can send free text messages to any mobile number in the UK (since it is a UK website).

I have no idea how to go about this. Can this be done for free? I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to go about this.

Check if the UK providers offers free email to sms service for their mobile customers, if they do, you can email them as and it will be converted to a sms.

Oh, how would it know what number to send to and would the person who is recieving the sms need to activate anything on their phone to be able to recieve them?

I guess what I'm asking is how does email to sms work? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this method?

I don't know if you've ever played around with PHP Forms and that sort of thing...

    It's basically the same concept.

You'd need: PHP Nobody Sender enabled, basic contact form script.

It needs to be edited somewhat though, where as the user can specify fields, such as: the mobile number, the provider, their name, their email.

    Good luck!
