Apparently London is the most expensive to eat at a restaurant according to a recent survey. I think Tokyo used to be.

But there are parts of London that are just as cheap to live as the rest of the SE of England...just not central London and surrounding areas such as Chelsea and Kensington.

I guess it's all relative. I'm sure people working in London earn a hell of alot more than the rest of the country...and I'm sure it's the same in Tokyo, NY and perhaps Milan and Paris.

Well last time I read on this London was the most expensive city in the world, then 2nd was Tokyo, and New York and L.A. where waaaaay down the list - which suprised me.

But I have just read an article just now and Moscow seems to be the world's most expensive, here: http://www.citymayors.com/features/cost_survey.html .

It's ironic I was just reading that Bangalore is actually one of the cheapest cities in the world, and we have a user in this thread called bangalore.

New York is dead cheap compared to Tokyo and London. I would say England in total is the most expensive country in the world. English citizens can move to the U.S.A. very easily with the currency exchange rate.

My friend comes over to the U.S.A. with loads of Lonsdale London clothing, because he said Americans love it and it's pretty expensive over there, but here it is really, really cheap clothing.

My house is worth around 1 million GBP but if you exchange the price in dollars that's about 2 million USD, I have seen nice villas in Florida for around $100,000. That would leave me with about $1,900,000, I'm sure I could live over in the U.S.A. for a while on that :p...but I like the U.K. too much.
