The Proxy Discussion Thread

Anyone got any tips for advertising/promoting proxy toplists? Mine are only a few days old, but have seen no traffic. The methods I can think of are SEO (apparently the Aardvark script is already good for this), and submitting it to other proxy toplists/linking to them. Directory submission seems a bit extreme for something as basic as a toplist, and they are not really something you can 'socially network' with. Is it acceptable to ask toplist submission services to add your toplist to their list of ones they submit to?

He about as untrustworthy as it gets and has been banned more times then you'd like to know.

 

I don't really know what he has to gain by dumping the few hundred clients he has. What was he banned for in the past?

I do believe that phpproxy is lighter that zelune and cgi proxy but uses more bandwidth

 

Why not buy a VPS? i will suggest you buy a VPS from thewird.

 

You can often solve the bandwidth problem by blocking China. The reason it seems to use more bandwidth is because it downloads all the images on a site when requested instead of stopping. And we all know how much China loves to look at 100+ big images per page on porn sites.

believe me most of the proxy business here depends on getting some traffic stats and revenue to sell the site after few weeks so no intention to block traffic

they want traffic + low bandwidth + low hosting costs then sell the site for the highest price

they want to win it all while things don't work like that

few people look for quality and those who will think about blocking trash traffic

Is the pump and dump proxy sites still going on? You'd think after 1-2 years of that BS people would stop buying proxy sites just cause they have stats that SEEM to look nice and then the buyer complains they are losing traffic /losing money. I've had quite a few clients over the years that realized that the site didn't have as much traffic as they thought after they buy it.

Iran traffic isn't as abusive and I've never considered blocking it or recommending my clients to block it since its not a major player in abuse and overall volume.

Hey guys, sorry if this is the wrong thread.

I live in Dubai, United Arab Emirates which a few of know will know has all sites "bad" for the culture blocked- sex, gambling, money making sites etc. I've used HotSpot Shield and SnoopBlocker in the past, but it makes my computer verryyyy slow, could someone give an example of a really fast proxy? I bought a proxy and I did some advertising.. a little.. like submitting to some sites, a newsletter that comes out soon.. and some other stuff. I am getting around 1000 unqiues a day. I would like to build a network of proxies. Is it better to buy a few more established proxies and then start making my own or can I start now.. Does anyone have any tips. Those are the proxy sites and networks for sales going on in these forums.

 

If you get a lxadmin based VPS then you should have no problem running 2 proxies that each get around a 100 uniques a day in 128MB RAM VPS. Lighttpd tends to have a very small memory footprint.

 

I say for new proxies
Newsletter is the best investement
Signature on your forum posts is free and good
Having a very good hosting account or server is primary!

Stay away from topsites it will just slow up your loading page your new proxy wont show up on top pages anyway.

And dont buy proxy on sale that server is down or suspended there a good chance the users already left for other proxy

For proxy newletters there many good services in DP just check around in advertise or traffic section

I use Hagiohost for my newer networks.

My newest one is on a $15 a month plan at the moment. It's earned around $80 alone this week.

Shawon has a good site, and very good prices. The only problem you'd have with him is a small language barrier.

 

and what if we could have 1700-2000 hits
should we go into those topsites ?
would it show my link on the top?
how much traffic could it bring
and whats the best topsite to try (dont like to put lots of them ...)
