What is the scariest car accident that you've been in?

Mine was when I was going 70 MPH (112.7 KPH) down the freeway when another car cut me off. I veered into the grassy median. At 70 MPH, my car started floating on the grass. Then it start going sideways. Luckily, time was going in slow motion, so I was able to remember all the safety commercials that I've ever seen on TV, and I had plenty of time to correct myself.

Lucky that you had your head on straight and wasn't in shock.

It's been a year since my last car accident. That was the scariest one I was in because I was the driver.

Some impatient bitch behind me was tailing me for like an hour and we finally came to a stop sign and I guess she was sick of waiting so she honked her horn and I got scared for some reason. I hit the gas and as I was making a turn another car, who's driver didn't pay attention to his stop sign or the road, came from the side of me at 45 MPH and slammed into the side of my car. We slid and almost tipped over. The guy that hit me got out of his car and the one and only thing he said to me was, "This is a rental car. Someone's going to have to pay for it." The girl that was tailing me tried to apologize by calling the cops and seeing if we were okay but I was too pissed off at her.

Luckily, a guy that saw everything came out of his car and made sure we were okay(we were all young girls). When he saw that the guy didn't apologize to us for hitting us, he grabbed him and told him to apologize or he was going to beat the crap out of him. It was so sweet. He even went to get us food and drinks and he left us his cellphone while he went.

I've never been in a car accident yet. I hope I don't ever get in one either.

Nope not really except for the self inflicted crash when I took my boyfriends car when I was 15 and didn't have a license and decided to take my brother, friend and myself to the 24/7, I did well till I got to the shop and put my foot on the gas instead of the brake and smashed into a fire hydrant :( , luckily it was late at night and no one on the road and no one got hurt from my moment of arrogance and thoughtless agenda! - Needless to say I learn't my lesson and never drove again till I had my license..in which time no accidents.

had on on mothers day this year.

I was driving north..in the right hand lane

Another guy was coming south in the left lane (he was turning left)

Apparently A mini van decided to stop and let him go

whodathunk I'm not psychic. He slams into me

Actually more like...I go under him since I have (had) a hundai and he had a jeep.

Damage to my car was over 5k because of the nice broken door and crunched parts of the inside.

    I seriously hate driving.

We were traveling in the winter time in a Ford Explorer. (I was the passenger, not the driver.) We hit a patch of ice and the car started to spin. We slid off the side of the road and the car started to roll down the steep hill at the side of the road. The car rolled over 3 times before it finally came to a stop at the bottom of the hill. The windows were all smashed out and there was broken glass everywhere (including in my mouth!). Someone behind us had already called 911. The ambulance came, and even though we had already climbed out of the car, they strapped us down to backboards, and took us to the hospital. The took some xrays to make sure we didn't have any neck injuries (we didn't). All we had was bruised ribs. No broken bones and no blood. We were very lucky, but we were very sore the next day!

Oh groan.. in the parking lot using ATM, parked my van ,no-one behind me reverse straight back into a car (parked in a no parking zone) They were too lazy to park properly. But my bad for not looking properly, had to pay for that one. None since.

I have never been in a car accident, and I refuse to learn how to drive. So many people are killed, or maimed, (whether physically or financially) in car accidents. I just can't bring myself to learn how... I get a lot of criticism for it, and most assume that this in some way hinders my independence, but really, it doesn't. There are buses, taxis, planes, --I just can't do cars.

The scariest car accident I have been through is when we crashed into the car infront of us because he suddenly stopped.

I have been witness to 5 accidents so far, i have been driving 7 months,

The first one was a simple shunt, where the driver of the car was playing with his radio.

The second was the car in front of me press the accelerater instead of the brake around a very bad corner around 1 mile from where i live. The car flipped over, and the bumpers and other body panels hit me and my bike, i managed to stop less than 1 metre from the overturned car.

The third was another shunt at a junction 2 miles from where i live, where a land rover went into the back of a family 4x4.

The fourth was the car behind, i don't know how but he ended up in the river around 2.5miles from where i live.

The last one was last week, i witnessed an accident between crowlas and cockwells.
    http://www.thisiscornwall.co.uk/dis...tentPK=18525153&folderPk=84661&pNodeId=147280

There was 2 divert routes, i choose the right one (eg: no accident on it).

I am always in the right place at the right time for some strange reason. To witness 5 accidents in 7 months since i started driving is actually more shocking now than it was back then. Fortually, nobody in any of these accidents were hurt, apart from the one at cockwells.

Oh...i have been in a accident myself, i drove into a back of a parked white van at night in July on my 50cc scooter.

    Rob

EDIT: Do you think my scooter distracts drivers????

Its a wonder why we are afraid of being eaten by sharks or flying in an airplane, when the most dangerous thing that we do is drive!

I'm glad you made it through ok. When I first arrived in California, I noticed that about 30% of the cars here had a dent in them. Then, I wondered how anyone can survive riding a bike here!

Luckily, you made it through ok. All the more reason to celebrate your 21st Birthday! :D

The scariest car accident I involved was when i drove a car in a hurry to go to University and I ran over the DOG! my friend in the car look back and he said the dog still running out of the road. but i'm sure it will hurt a lots. (my car was a TOYOTA 4WD!)

Oh another one was the I was about 15, our family went out for dinner at around 19.00PM. My father drove on the dark road at around 80KMPH. suddenly a Goat ran from the side of the road and stopped in front of our car. He hit it ofcourse. the goat surely dead at the spot. we dont see anyone came out and claim he is the owner so we put the goat at the side of the road and drove off. we didn't have a good dinner though due to the accident....

Wow, Buffalo! That was pretty intense! I think you win for being in the most gnarly accident. The rest of us got dinged around a bit, but we never rolled over!

Hey, Janneke - do you have a steel rod in your leg? I know at least two people who do, now

Tradeya - that's right! I forgot about goats/deers! I bet a-lot of people have hit them.

I remember driving by a car engulfed in flames once. Even though I was several lanes away, going 50 MPH, I remember the heat being really intense. We tend to be de-sensitized to fire/explosions from the movies and don't realize just how hot a car on fire gets!
