I want to create a banner, ebook and cdcover but uncertain as to which software to use. Any suggestions or recommendation on another low cost or free software that can help me accomplish this.

Adobe Photoshop is the name of one program. It's a very manageable program, but it comes at a high cost. Something that is as good is probably GIMP.

Thank for the clarification. Just trying to get some quality work done on my new website, not sure if it should be outsource or if its something I can do myself.

It's not at all, The GIMP itself uses a simple installer.

However, before you install the GIMP, you need to make sure you have some extra libraries installed:

    Windows 2000, XP, Vista: GTK+ 2.10.13
    Windows 98, ME, NT4: GTK+ 2.6.10

Once you have the necessary library package installed, just download and install the GIMP:

    GIMP Download Link (v. 2.2.17)

As an alternative, some Paintshop people moving to the GIMP will probably find it easier to use GIMPshop. GIMPshop is a version of the GIMP that has been altered to make it similar in layout and behaviour to Photoshop, to make it easier for designers to migrate:

    GIMPshop Homepage

    GIMPshop Download link (v. 2.2.8)

Good luck, I hope this makes it a little clearer!

I wouldn't recommend trying to do it yourself if you don't have experience in graphic design. It can get complicated when starting out.

I could help you if you need help. cheap.

Rather then try to create top quality graphics after you buy the software and teach yourself how to use it, just hire a designer.

Many great Eastern European or Asian designers can be found on scriptlance.com or elance.com Your job should not cost more then 75 dollars, more like $50 IMO.
