Social Bookmarking Benefits

I have trying to find a topic specifically for this but either I suck at searching or it doesn't exist. So I am trying to promote and get my sites out there and I have been trying to obtain links like everyone else. However, I do not understand the Social Bookmarking sites all that well. I get Digg and I use it but SU, Del.ic.ous, Technorati and all the others I don't understand.

So my questions are:

1. How is traffic converted from someone surfing to them coming across my bookmark to visit my site?

2. Is it beneficial for me to buy bookmarking services?

3. How many bookmarks is enough (if there is a such thing)?

No one can answer these? Ok, how about just Stumble Upon?

 

I too would start with stumble upon, it seems to generate traffic but am not sure the traffic converts well.

 

Digg gets your pages indexed in Google within 24 hours.

I would say that's a pretty nice benefit.

I have been getting a massive amount of hits from Stumble but not really anywhere else. It hasn't converted though. Does it make since to have multiple bookmarks from different users in the sites? I don't want to keeping picking up all these services if only 1 is required. Any experience?

I own Mysocialbookmarkers.com - Social Bookmarks and it was built just before the last Google update.
I mean almost 2 weeks before. It was a brand new domain name and site and I can tell you that Bookmark sites are the best I have seen as far as getting indexed quick.
It went from 0 to PR4 and categories even PR'd. It gets alot of traffic and I am assuming most of the bookmark sites do very very well so as far as I am concerned, you cannot go wrong with getting your sites in these.

 

ok but do they work on the premise "the more people bookmark you, the more popular you are"...I guess like links.

I am doing stumble. So can anyone tell me if the more people that bookmark me in Stumble or anything else will help, or won't matter?

Just get one bookmark from addthis.com, it covers all types of social communities like SU, Technorati, Digg, Del, and so on..so there is not need to have multiple bookmarks and when veiwers visit your site, they can bookmark your site to there social community. It's free by the way!

Stumble Exchange traffic from DP converts like crap. Try topping out a social news site, and the traffic from those stumbles is REALLY nice.
