New social networking site, paying users to do stuff

We just launched, www.asabailey.com - Its a new social network site that pays users to do things. Such as post a link on their website/blog/online profiles.

Whats the best way to go about marketing this?

 

So, is it like Yukie? Use google adwords and target myspace.

We pay via paypal. So far we've given away, an xbox 360, iPod touch and cash.

The point (star) system seems like a good idea

 

If it helps, I can advertise you on my site for a reciprocal link, and tell my teenage daughter and all her little hoodlum friends lol. They love that sort of thing, and are really into the drama social scene...lol

Whats been working really well for me dre is I just placed a few offline classifed ads in the local paper this week and got alot of sign ups , now I also got a few people off of some Free online classifed ads, and I just sign up to a few Advertising Forums as well this week, so I'm curoius to see how they go .

Pre launched we gave away a free iPod touch, xbox 360 (premium), not elite though and cash, we have tasks ready to put on the site as soon as we hit X amount of users.

 

instead of just giving away prizes in a contest, why not consider having a race. The difference between a contest and a race is that a contest gives a way a prize for whoever does the most. A race sets up specific parameters and no one gets a prize unless they are the first to reach a certain mark. For instance, the first to refer 100 new signups. This way you don't lose any money unless they reach the target. And you know how much you make if they do reach the target so you know you don't lose any money.
