IE is not the problem. It is the crap that people download while browsing in IE that is the problem. Most of the viruses are contracted from an email a user clicked on or website they went to. More times than not these viruses are located on websites that are... either "not suitable for children" or "borderline legal" or in the third scenario they are using software linked to one of the two types of sites mentioned. An example of that would be Kazaa or Kazaa's replacement... (can't think of the name at the moment)

I never have to worry about viruses no matter what OS or Browser I am using. Spyware is a different story... no thanks to companies like doubleclick, gator, etc.

The real problem is free tools, screensavers, toolbars, etc. People will go to a site and just download them like crazy.... (i guess that would be a 4th scenario since those sites usually don't fall into the other categories). Then they get the spyware that creates the unblockable popups where they just download even more crappy toolbars, virusbug... er... I mean weather bug, etc.

Maybe I have worked in IT too long. I am just tired of hearing people blame viruses on the computer and the browser. It is always the user. A computer can't get a virus all on its own, at least not sitting idle. If users would just take the time to learn what causes viruses, they would know to stay away from that kind of crap.

Anywho... enough venting for one post.

I agree 100% with this post. Its like people act totally carless and expect their internet browser to fix their mistakes.

Why do you need an alternative, if you don't like IE, and you are using Firefox? Do you have some issues with Firefox as well?

I use Firefox most of the time but sometimes I switch to IE if I need to test a site etc.

A company I recently worked for had a service which would only work in IE 6+, was a real pain! Companies should be forced to make products which work across different browsers.

I used FireFox for a about 2 years but now i'm back to IE7, FF take a lot of memory on my PC. Opera is not bad maybe it's the best browser around but i have a lot of bookmarks and i don't like how Opera bookmarks management.
