I don't really think it's so much forums aren't neccesarily good for adsense, it's just finding the right balance between having ads that look as though they should be there and are clickable. Anyway, the thought of having to repost over 3,000 downloads doesn't appeal! Strangely enough, when I took the ads off my traffic went down, when I put them back on traffic is up again - have no idea what's going on but the ads are back for now so I'll see how it goes again for a while and maybe try changing the placement see how that goes!

I found something cool today while reading one of the free E-Books posted on here. It's a site called CrazyEgg.com and the E-Book was BigShotBlogging by Bryan Clark. The application from Crazy Egg lets you add code to your page and it lets you see where visitors are clicking. There's several different ways you can view the data. I like the Heatmap and the Confetti views. Hope this helps!

DJ, interestingly enough, invision forums let's you see where visitors and members are in realtime (like what topic they are viewing or what area they are in), not necessarily what they're clicking mind you but your suggestion may very well be worth checking out - thanks for that idea.

Hi all, thought I'd resurrect this old topic of mine in the hope of some more advice. I've been playing around a lot with the site and (groan) re-introduced the portal with more emphasis on our categories available. In general, our visitors and impressions have started to increase and our alexa rank has climbed considerably since starting this post though I'm still keen to have fresh thoughts on our ad-placements. We generally want to keep the ad's as near to the top of our pages as possible as this has gave us best results though would be up for suggestions that have worked for others :)
    Thanks in advance.

sometimes adsense just isn't the best way to go, even if it's great for some sites... I have a site that generates 10,000 impressions daily and i'm lucky if the adsense ads there make even $2 in a day.. with a ctr of 0.04% average.. it's a dictionary type site (non-english) so that explains the bad conversion (and i know that), but just saying. you have to explore and maybe try out some other ad programs.. btw if anyone know any good cpm ads for non-english sites, pm me (sorry for going way off topic)

edit: woops, totally didn't notice it was that old a thread sorry for the bump :$
