How do these people get their articles on the front page of categories with thousands of diggs? What's the secret?

How does a blogger win at this game?

Everything on Digg is user-submitted. After you submit content, other people read your submission and “Digg” what they like best. If your story receives enough Diggs, it's promoted to the front page for other visitors to see. You need really cool content man.

Do people ever find your article on Digg through a search or do people only "digg" your article because they were already visitors to your site?

If it's the latter and your blog is new, is it even worth posting articles to Digg if the only people that are going to find the article are the handful of readers your blog has?

First, you need to know your topic. Some niches won't work at all with digg. I think Wii-related articles have more chance to success. There are some good topics that might attract digg users' attention like wii, politic, entertainment, funny, and technology related. Next, you might need to buy or trade some diggs until you get the front page in your topic. After that, real digg users will help you if your web page is interesting.

Humor is a good topic and celebrity gossip is another. Some people digg each other to help but i never bothered with it.

About a week ago, I submitted individual pages of my site(about 10 index pages) to Digg, stumbleupon, and delic.ious?

So far, I've only had visitors come from Digg.

And noone has Digg my pages, I had to Digg(submit) them myself.

Yes, you should post articles to Digg. It is highly unliked(as in my case) that visitors to your site will Digg it, but if you submit your site to Digg, that will bring you traffic.

You have nothing to lose by using Digg for free advertising. :)
