Where do you create your logos?

Discussion in 'Photoshop' started by WhiteAl, Mar 7, 2008.

I see alot of people here at DP offering to create profession logos for $x dollars, but where do they make them? Photoshop? Do they use a logo designer software or website? Im just about to make my own logo for my own site, but dont know where to start.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I usually draft it in paper and have it scanned. Afterwards, I work it digitally using some vector applications like Adobe Illustrator and do some finishing touches with Adobe Photoshop.

    I use Photoshop :)

I don't really think anyone should offer logo services if they're using software of a website where they just need to click a few buttons to have it made  That's just my opinion anyway :)

You really should use a vector program to make logos so that it can be resized without losing quality. I use Illustrator, but there are others.

Generally, to get a professional logo, use a professional logo designer.

The only way to make a professional logo is as a vector. Although there is vector capability using paths in photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Inkscape (free) work excellently.

Anybody who uses photoshop alone to create a logo is what we call an amateur designer. Professionals use vector programs, that's the difference between the two.

I recommend inkscape to you because in many ways it's better than illustrator, and it's free and cross platform. get it here: inkscape.org

    Illustrator and inkscape.
For truly pro logos as innovati said, they need to be vectored so they can be resized without getting blurry and messy.

    I use photoshop though D:

I use Adobe CS3. Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks.. the lot.

It really depends on what you want to achieve and what application you feel more comfortable with.

I'm the odd ball of the bunch here I suppose. I support the smaller companies struggling to compete with the larger corporate mongers like Adobe, Microsoft, Etc...

My Primary Graphics design tool is: Serif DrawPlus X2

Why did I choose Serif DrawPlus X2 as my primary tool? Simple really, That one software (Tool) handles Vector / Raster / Paint / CAD / Flash / & Edits Pdf's - It's like having Illustrator / Photoshop / Fireworks / & Flash8 all wrapped into one package. Not to mention, it's only $99.99

I've been a serif software user for over 2 years now & ALL my Web / Print / Media work has been done with it. I do have Inkscape installed, But I ONLY use it for converting .Wmf vectors to .Eps / .Svg / .Emf (when Needed).

For the cost Vs. abilities, I would say that Serif DrawPlus X2 was well worth my investment. To each there own though. Did I mention Serif is a UK based software company & windows Vista Certified :)

Ok, that's enough from me, I just see so many talking about Adobe, I just had to add my 2 cents on the little guy (Serif) & their Powerful tools.
