    It totally depends on the amount of traffic your receive.
    If you get more than 5000 visits a day, you should leave just the first box.
    If your traffic don't go higher than 100 visits a day, you should have around 3ads, all of them blended in the content and near links for internal navigation.

    Usually that works, but mant people don't do it because they don't want any mistaken clicks on the ads. :D

    I agree with this. When I see a site overloaded with ads I'm pretty sure the only reason the site exists is for the ads.

    I think more ads means more clicking and more clicking means more earning. so why can't you use more ads.

    Many ads in the page will result in a much lesser CPC, but if you don't have that much traffic you should use more ads to increase the chances of clicks.

    i am aiming at earning in a long term basis.
    If I fill my site with too many ads, people will not want to visit my site too often. Hence, returning visitors will be low!

    Smart Thinking, eh? :p

    Exactly, your ads have to be in positions that won't perturb the readers reading and navigation thought the site, other wise they won't return.

    Place more ads to get more money and impressions, I would have about 2/3 on a page to maximize your chances of earning and clicks!
