Review adsense placement and type please?

I get decent traffic to my site, but adsense is producing very little click.

I would really appreciate any tips on how I can improve this..

I know the site looks pretty poor, but I get traffic coz of the good amount of content...

You are telling people that "ads here, please go away"
1. change your background to match with the ads
2. do not use the standard banner, change it to retangular

1. The background of the site is white, and so are the ads aren't they? Or are you saying they sound be within the blue area?

2. Which one are you referring to, the one on the right or the one in the middle?

I've changed the background to the same colour as the main text. Should it blend into the text more?

I think if you use white background color for your ads, then that will be better. Anyway, its your choice.

And how about placing a ad unit above the heading "Latest items: " ?

I think that will increase your CTR.
