I tried many times to burn movies from the computer to the watch on the TVs DVD but they never work. Is there a secret format or something you should use?

If it's the DVD media that is the problem, you could always try making a VCD or SVCD on a CDR. Quality isn't as good, but at least you get to watch it on a TV.

I think PC DVD players will play any format. But for a regular TV DVD player NTSC is the format.

You will need Nero Vision Express CE.

It will convert most movie file types like AVI , MPG1, MPG2 files to DVD movie

Thats what I used to use. I think its one of the best apps i've tried for the job.

Now I just run a connection from my video out straight to my TV. Much easier, just a case of click and play.

where are you based? there may be some problems due to regions that your DVD player will work with? having said that, my UK DVD player will play burnt DVDs (all my DVDs though are movies I make myself)

Never used it to subtitle :( No idea.

I think you need some kind of editing platform/software to subtitle.
