Inconsistent AdSense Earnings? Is placement the problem?

Discussion in 'Placement / Reviews / Examples' started by chelle, Jun 22, 2008.

I am wondering if my adsense placement has anything to do with why some days I earn well and other days I earn nothing! There are some days I have 1200+ pageviews and then might earn a few cents, then other days I might only have 600 pageviews and earn a few dollars?

Is is the placement? I have them above posts and below posts. You can see the placement on my site http://itmightbelove.com (I am new here, so not sure if the link will be live or not!)

Would different placement help me get better consistency or is there another factor I'm not thinking of? The higher traffic days surprisingly are not from stumble upon but search results & articles I've written.

Any ideas suggestions and criticsm are welcome!

I experience the same sort of thing as you.

I don't think it's the placement, because if it were, then whether people clicked or not would be consistent. That is, bad placement = few clicks, good placement = more clicks. Since your placement is constant and the number of clicks change, I doubt it's placement. This is not to say that trying a different placement, color scheme, etc wouldn't help.

Do you notice what ads are running when you have a high CTR and a low one? Maybe on the days that we get more clicks the ads are more relevant/useful to the users? Advertisers only pay for a certain number of clicks, etc. We don't have the same ads all the time. If I refresh a page, I often see a number of different ads. That's the only thing I could think of.
