Building a Content management system

Hello,

i want to create my own CMS, which will serve as online exams results

how can i do it ?

it will work like >>

on the front page , there will be textbox, where students will put their roll number

then search button

then the whole result with all subjects & arks grand total will be displayed.

how can do this, i am having good knowledge of PHP

are there any ebooks available for that ?

please help me......please guide me

You want to build your OWN cms... and dont know where to start....hmmm...suggest better use some open sourse.

 

I would recommend learning a framework such as CakePHP, CodeIgniter or Zend and buillding it off that. Frameworks are great for large projects and will save you mountains of time if you use it properly.

There's lots of ready made free software; Joomla, Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, e107, ExpressionEngine, MediaWiki, Movable Type, PhpWiki, XOOPS, Dokuwiki, b2evolution...

Most of the above can be initially set up in half an hour or less, some only minutes if they're done with Fantastico, then you will have to play around with settings and appearances to get what you want, and may have to install/make/commission components/modules/plugins to go with them if they don't do exactly what you want - though there are ready made plugins out there for the most popular ones and they have forums where you can ask advice before you get started, say "I want to do this, will Joomla be able to do that for me?" on the Joomla forums for example.

 

I'll recommend Joomla as a great CMS to get started with. It's probably the simplest if your new to CMS's and has a lot of extensions and components that you can add to it very easily.

 

I like Joomla too, that's why I mentioned it twice, well three times actually.
