You can't create a PDF book with Adobe Acrobat Reader, you need the full application suite.

I have read Open Office Suite can do the job, but that is a full set of applications so not that quick.

There are drivers that work like a printer so you can make your ebook from any application you actually use by "printing" the file as PDF.

I'm trying to find, however an easy, standalone program to create my ebooks as well, so hope someone come around to post additional suggestions.

Ok, thank you for the reply every one.

Just need to clarify some other things.

Cant we create the pdf file directly. I mean like we create a microsoft word or powerpoint or excel?

Is this the only way that we should covert the existing documents?

    Please reply.

Yes. There's an add-in you can download from Microsoft that lets you save your Word 2007 files as .pdf.

To use it, go to Save As and choose PDF.

OpenOffice is great; you get a "writer" that's similar to Word, but has more user friendly features. When you're done, you simply click a button and "export" the document to a PDF.
