    Hey,

I dont have any more for now, so I will save up for either vb or ipb, but I will save up enough through ads and other ways, but for now I would like to know, should I use an SMF forum, a phpbb3/2 forum, mybb forum or invisionfree forum? Please post in the poll and reply here with your reasons.

    Thanks

If you can't afford vBulletin, I would go for Simple Machines Forum as the next best thing.

I like SMF because it's quite easy to use.

I agree, I spent years wrangling with phpbb, which is a good script but you have to kind of fight it to get it to work how you want, before I found SMF. With SMF it just seems to work right away, I was particularly impressed with the easy click to upgrade features in the admin area, and only moved on from SMF because I wanted vBulletin which is even better but you have to pay for it.

PunBB is nice and has a much better templating system than any other forum I've used.

For a free solution, consider smf. I have seen several phpbb forums hacked, but if you keep smf up to date it does pretty good - but not as good as VB.

SMF is great and can become even better if you install TinyPortal. Yes VB is good but VB is not free. I've been using SMF and its the best out there. phpBB is full of spam
