You should get your members to digg it for you, not try and artificially inflate the diggs.

Make many friends within Digg. Your friends will often check your submissions. Most people will digg it too..thats the only legal way to promote your site at Digg.

Digg is hard. You need people to help start it off, then others (unrelated people) will see it and may digg it - if its good enough.

Unless you've very unique or extermly viral content it is hard to get success through digg.

Spend some time building up contacts, voting and submitting, it's the only way to get your stories noticed.

Make as many friends as you can. Send them shouts to digg your article, and dont forget to digg your friend's submissions.

And you probably got a TON of friends, huh ;).

But I do agree with that. Al though I've never been able to properly convert traffic from Digg. You got any tips there maybe? Would be interested to hear some.

Well, linking to your blog post with the title of your blog post as the title of your digg is the absolute best way in my opinion.

Hi, try the Dean Hunt method, write something really catchy that will get others' attention. A good and appealing article with a humorous posture always gets viral really quick. I did it once using a title that goes like "How To Become The Poorest Internet Marketer Within One Year" to attract some attention. It basically points out the top mistakes marketers make and it got me a surge in traffic for a couple of days. Many became subscribers of my blog. ;)

You need to have two factors:

    a) great content

    b) a strong friends network

the second can be built overtime by being active in the community and building friends and contacts. You have to pay your dues with digg before you can reap the benefits 99% of the time.

Too right. I'd say that 80% of hitting the front page is about the account it comes from and the contacts it has. Take a look at front page stories, and I doubt you'll find one that has, say, 2 friends.

I'd say the actual value of hitting the front-page is questionable.. I've never hit the front page personally, but read a few people's experiences.. Did your earnings increase? Were there any significant increases in traffic after the initial 2-3day influx?

Basically, were there any longer-term advantages besides the pounding on your server? :p

Edit: By the way, for those questioning whether or not how 'social' your account is affects hitting the FP.. you need only look at: http://socialblade.com/digg/topusers.html

If you digg your own articles too often, they'll will ban your site.

Get your visitors to do it for you by adding a digg button if you don't already have one, and maybe say something in your posts along the lines of "If this article interests you, feel free to digg it."
