After 3 months of writing unique content and 1 week of custom design, I think I might almost be finished with all the hacks, tweaks, bells and whistles... The goal was to transform a basic blogger template into a clean site.

I decided to implement affiliate links and banners and, an adsense block of course.

Now there's always room for improvement, and I want this site to be successful, so I ask: what else needs to be done?

    Thanks for your input.

I like it all except maybe for the Adsense unit. I would go to a step smaller unit. Is that the 300 X 250? Maybe a 200 X 200.

How's the site doing so far? Is it generating affiliate sales? Decent Adsense earnings?

    Thanks for replying.

I just added the affiliate links today so I have no sales yet obviously. As for adsense, well the site barely made $25.00 last month because of poor SE traffic (it's a new site). Click average is around $0.20, which is a bit disappointing. The site will need huge traffic to make decent money.

Now, you mentioned that you didn't like the adsense unit, why would you go smaller? It's the largest rectangle unit actually, I thought it had the best CTR of all units?

It is normally the most effective size... when used correctly. These square units are best when tightly integrated with the core content. This is where I disagree with it's usage on your site. It is almost as wide as your text column width so when reading your core text content, you are never near this ad unit. A smaller square would allow you to wrap text around it and draw the readers attention to the ad unit. IMHO.

I think you have one of the best placement around with the ads fully blend in together with the contents. Don't worry, I'm sure when the traffic starts to pick up, so does your revenue.

Alright I now see what you mean. Adsense integrated in content is actually a blogger hack that I haven't figured out. Would love to learn how to do it.

Thanks for the compliment. Hopefully the traffic will be good. At the moment, I'm at 100 UV / day. I'd like to reach 500 UV / day on January 1st.
