mosets tree will do all the features, and it's not free anyway.

hi everyone, i am looking for your

advice on the best way forward.

i have a static website dealing with

    property in turkey

i am looking for a search engine

    friendly template and database

    package, preferably free, with maybe

a link in the footer or something as

payment in return.i have pr3 if that

    makes any difference.

i have been given advice that i

should be using joomla or mumbo. i

dont know where to start as 've just

    "mastered - ho ho" Dreamweaver

    static html stuff. Somebody else

    said PHPnuke, another said Google

    Tap NG. I'm lost!!!

Is there a "out of the box" package

out there for me...? I would like to

offer a search facility by resort,

price and bedrooms basically. Also i

am compiling a searchable archive of

relevant articles on Turkey for my

    visitors.

i've heard a lot about Apache and

    rewriting dynamic pages into static,

is this what mambo is about?

Could i learn this from a book or

tutorial, or is it complete geek

    stuff.

    All the best, Dennis.

Since I'm a Drupal fan I would suggest Drupal, but Joomla will do just fine.

How about iRealty? It's not free, but it's multi-language (and has a Turkish language translation that comes free with it).

They are free and good, but you can't imagine how many people get their Joomla! websites defaced or hacked into to perform activities innocent people get suspended for. iRealty does have a built-in CMS that allows you to use it simply as a standalone CMS, as a classifieds engine, or, best off, as a combination of the two. You do need to read manuals when it comes to products usually. Have built websites on Joomla before and was defaced three times before I quit using it.

If you want to set up a website in a couple of days, you should try iLister (see the link above). Automatically pre-fills forms with db fields, all the features of iRealty, including a very powerful CMS and SEO-friendly urls. One of the websites I helped develop is based on iRealty (although it deals with aviation-related business directory stuff), but I'm thinking about adding iLister to handle member-only classifieds on it.

iLister looks damn nice and promising, but it's also not so cheap :D
