    1% CTR is better... imagine 10 clicks for 1000 impressions.. I don't think it is bad...

    You can have a horizontal link unit on top of your page, just below your log in form. Make it blue to stand out or your current color scheme to blend. This will increase your CTR.

    There is also another thing that I would suggest... remove your side menu ad unit.. they don't work anymore, especially with the header - Sponsors. If you want to have the side adsense unit, change the header description.
