    site in question:

    www.dneprimport.com

    Page CTR: around 12%

Sidebar - The most effective, taking half of total CTR
Footer - The 2nd effective, taking 5% of CTR

Header - The least effective taking only 1% of CTR!!!

But Header ads on average pay 30% more per click then footer and sidebar ads, which is interesting.

    Hmn.

I let my website just sit for 1 month collecting hits and this is what I got.

Total clicks in about 1000 range.

    Hi Saintdw,

"Header - The least effective taking only 1% of CTR!!!

But Header ads on average pay 30% more per click then footer and sidebar ads, which is interesting."

    Thanks for sharing your findings.

Re: your statement above, google loads ads in order, based on the highest payouts. So the first ads displayed are the most lucrative. Since the ctr is so low in the header, I'd recommend you remove the ads there completely, so the higher rev ads will load in the sidebar first. The ctr rate may go down, but based on your comment, the rev will go up 30%. Another option is to replace the header ad with a link unit (rather than an ad unit), which for me seems do really well in that location.

saintdw, i think that talking about your specific ctr like that is against the google tos... if that is the case, it would be easy for them to ban you, since you have listed your website right next to your ctr.

you might want to take a look at the tos.

    neither does the tos:

"You agree not to disclose Google Confidential Information without Google's prior written consent. "Google Confidential Information" includes without limitation: (a) all Google software, technology, programming, specifications, materials, guidelines and documentation relating to the Program; (b) click-through rates or other statistics relating to Site performance in the Program provided to You by Google..."

they keep it purposely vague just for situations like this... i don't have a clue if your terminology of "around" gets you off the hook, because the tos doesn't allow for "around" or "approximately", etc., but if it was my account, i wouldn't associate any numbers with it at all.

You can use CCS to have the sidebar or footer at the top of the html, and with css put it where it goes.
