Hi all, ok I run a few proxy servers which are only about 7 days old, with a bit of advertising etc I am getting about 13000 impressions a day and averaging about 4 clicks a day. My CTR is shameful. I have tried a bunch of different things and nothing seems to improve it. I know for a fact other proxy owners get anywhere from 3% - 8% CTR with very similar ad placement to mine. What am I doing wrong??? My main proxy is http://www.proxydragon.com Thanks guys

Probably the visitors to your site are Adsense-Blind .The adsense ads are well placed, try to make them outstanding!

I think you should make the ads stand out a little more...there is a way to make every visitor see different color combinations with adsense..

Another day, another 12000 impressions and only 7 clicks. Placing the ads directly above and below the browse button was going to be my next approach. Although I need to keep the other links around the textfield, but I think those links take away from the adsense ad links. I have tried a number of different color combinations as well and none seem to have made any difference. I think I might try the image next to the ad approach and see what happens.

What is MFA? And im not trying to promote what you call my "Crap", I have spent hours upon hours building this so keep your narrow minded opinions to yourself. If I was trying to recklessly promote it I would have more then 1 thread asking this question!!!

Thanks Webbie, I tried to make the site look better then the standard proxies out there. I will take a look at geo targeting. Why is everyone so quick to defame everybody on DP, I asked a genuine question and cop abuse from design guru's like fryman. Is that how you get so many posts, by adding simple minded one liners in every thread? Suggest something helpful!

Have you checked or do you know where your hits are coming from? If it's something like popups, redirects, or autosurf, it would be the reason for your have of clicks per impressions. Otherwise, I would suggest making the border black on Adsense too.

OK thats fair enough then, I see the point about MFA. Although it wasn't my intention to promote the site on DP, I was asking a genuine question. My apologies if I broke the rules :-(

Thanks Duallity, its all from genuine impressions and not from popups & redirects etc. I get about 1000 visitors a day. I have tried the black border as well which out much success. The ads kind of get lost with all the other red links, I may try actaully changing the link colors to one that is not used on the page, well anything other then red.

Try changing up the ad sizes you use and try to mka ethe text color the same gray used in the description of your website, in your Google Adsense ads. Good luck!

Dont say you are sorry, Bender is not understanding what DP is about and Fryman is known here for being rude and unpleasant.

Now, I would have put the text below the ads.

The main problem I see is the context of the ads. I browsed a number of sites unrelated to proxies, and the only ads that ever showed up were proxy ads.

If I'm using your proxy, I have no interest in proxy ads. Perhaps you can try using YPN. They allow you to preset a theme/category for your ads. That way you can pick ads that might better match your general user's interests, if you know that information.

Looks pretty cool though.... Good luck!
