This is my first site. I've never used Adsense before and just recently launched the site. Let me know what you think. Be kind or rip me a new one...it's up to you. I'm just looking to learn. Thanks in advance.

Looks good. You might want to experiment with using the wider skyscraper on your left and also changing the left column background colour to white. But only try this if you're only getting limited success.

I will consider taking away all ads on a info page (cept mabbe Ad Link), and have a well placed rect adsense above the article (just after the topic title), it has been the top CTR for most.

If you really want to convert, include a large rectangle with 0000CC link color and FFFFFF background and border on your actual article pages and wrap the text around. People are reluctant to do it but it works every time

Looks alright to me. Since you say it's recently launched, I'm guessing you don't have piles of traffic just yet, which would mean you aren't necessarily going to have an idea as to whether changes you make have a positive or negative impact.

The advice the others have given is good, just also remember that the key incredient will be traffic, which takes time. Once you have the traffic is when tweaking the Adsense ads will really have an impact. Good luck :)
