I have a bunch of health sites doing anything from 10 to 30 percent CTR. Having recently acquired a good site with reasonable traffic, I'm surprised to find that the CTR is around one percent.

The site www.malefitness.net has lots of pages and topics to suit all tastes, and the ads are well targeted according to the text, but the visitors aren't tempted to click the ads that much.

Over half the traffic is to the fitness models section which might mean these viewers are not interested in fitness topics but perhaps the Adsense placement is not well placed to attract attention.

Any considered advice on improving CTR would be most welcome.

Move your vertical skyscraper to the left side of the page, this can be very helpful in improving your CTR.
