Singapore is nuts. That country/nation is the example of what government DOES NOT need to do. What gives them the right to take someone's life because he had a controlled substance. How many people in Singapore buy expensive legal prescription drugs but are addicted to them and don't get in trouble?

Singapore is just like China. A tyrannical government out of control. It was on the news recently how a guy in China was thrown in jail for having a bible...give me a break! I hope this doesn't happen in the US.

    he he he! Condom eater!

BTW- I'm not saying that Singapore was right in hanging him. But 14oz is enough for even a retard to know he's taking a GIGANTIC risk w/ his life.

I'm a Melbourne girl... so it soooo all over the news too. Yes lot's of heroin (enough to get to 2,000 "kids"). Definitely a wrong thing to do, but I am morally opposed to the Death Penalty and how does it happen that the Singaporing government places a noose around someone's neck, kicks a chair and calls it law - it's not even remotely justice.

He was traffic drugs internationally for a large drug ring, those drugs kill kids and mess up their lives. He deserves whatever he was sentenced to, I don't care what his excuse was. This will help to be a deterrant for preventing or at least reducing the moving of drugs accross borders. While I'm not fond of the death penalty, I do believe people need examples of stiff punishment.

I'm sure the parents of the many many kids that have lost their lives to drugs would disagree with you.

I think people should be more worried about things that are killing innocent people.

You know, like famine, disease, natural disasters etc...

People choose to take drugs, its personal choice

Unfortunately, that's not true at all.

There are tons of people taking drugs that aren't making any choice. It's called addiction.

And I'm sure that more than once someone has died from drinking or eating something laced with drugs without their knowledge.

Not to mention, that a very large percentage of people who become addicted turn to crime to pay for it; then eventually end up in either jail or in the hospital, so end up costing everyone more money and effort in the long run. I don't really have a problem with Singapore here.

Taking and dealing are two very different things. This guy was not taking. He was dealing. Had he just been charged with possession he would have gotten 20 years. Instead he got death. But that's Singapore. You've got an obligation to respect other countries laws. Anyway, I don't fly around the country with large amounts of herion, so I guess I don't have much to worry about.

Anyway, if you look at Singapore's drug/violence problems compared to the rest of the world you will see that there really is no drug/violence problem there. Extreme, yes. Effective, certainly.

But then again this is why living in the US is so great. We don't kill people for stupid stuff. Number 1000 is going flat line tonight. Seems to me he killed two people in cold blood. His termination is a bit light in comparision.

Thats life, because some people can't handle drinking or smoking then no one should be allowed to? That makes no sense.

    What?

You think people should be put to death to save money?

The only reason people commit crimes to pay for drugs is becasue they are expensive. They are expensive because they are illegal.

If they were legal there would be no more crime, and no more people prison.

Think of the money that would save, without even having to put anyone to death.

And taxes would more then cover the hospital bills etc.

And we would have a more free society, but hey ....

Last I looked drinking and smoking were legal (in the US at least). So where is the comparison?

What's really funny is how divided the opinions about cases like these are over here. I remember when they flogged this American kid for spray painting graffity in Singapore. Almost half of Americans though it was cool, while the other half was outraged.
