I saw one of the popular blogs Problogger gets lots of traffic from Digg. The links from the social networking websites really seem to boost the search engine rankings for the site. So it really looks like it is a great idea.

Thanks for the post. This is a very informative one.

In my opinion, the effort to write appealing articles or posts to make first page on Digg are worth the effort, because of the vast amount of traffic that might be not targeted at all, but in the end is traffic and if the landing webpage is intresting anough and offers quality products, could easily change the reader's mind and get you several unexpected clients.

Yeah pretty much i think digg and stumbleupon are the best. Hard to compete with the shear amount of traffic digg gets you in one day.

Propeller was just announcing it is now number 2 in the social bookmarking space so they are worth looking into as well.

I never even heard of propeller until a few weeks ago... they seem to have SERPS everywhere for just about anything.

    Propeller used to be netscape.com.

The social bookmarking idea was taken from Digg by Jason Calacanis (who got a lot of stick from digg fans for doing it) and now netscape have decided to make it into it's own seperate site.

I have recently been watching a few famous black hats in the shadows of how they are using there book markings.

There link bait is incredible and there digg and stumble groups are very well organized.

Yep they are - even some of the big whitehat sites have digg/stumble/propeller etc. groups organized.

You only need look for the sites that get a very high front page success rate to see who they are.

I concur. Digg is a solid long term solution for high quality/trustworth links coming inbound to your website. Also, I can tell you that when we put links at Digg to a brand new website, Google has indexed the Digg link within days. Its a good idea!

Sometimes Digg links are indexed within hours of submitting it. Brand new site indexed within a few hours because of Digg.

I doubt whether my site will able to handle that 250,000 vistors
I got more traffic from stumble than digg.
The number one is from this forum :D not many from search engine cause it's relatively new site.
