I took a snip from my long awaited (yes i'm a slacker) book on how to write a killer press release and get real media coverage...

Basically a list of: how to stuff up a press release... top 50 list.

Feel free to digg it, and drop me an email so I can send you a heads up when the full book is ready for download.

And of course let me know what you think about the list in this thread.

Very interesting read! It would be nice maybe at the end if you posted or linked us to a crappy and an excellent press release

I love "Don't write 'STOP THE PRESS' or 'NEWS FLASH' on it." :D

Cheers. I'd have to write a crappy press release myself to do that, as it would probably be bad form to use someone else's release.... but linking to a good release is a great idea, thanks.

In the book, I detail a release I did so you can read it as is, then the resulting news article so you can see how the journalist crafted the eventuating news story... kind of a behind the scenes look at what actually happens with a decent press release.

Some great points. A lot of people here are seo experts but have no idea how to do offline marketing so this book will be great.

Here is a good one: http://www.fsf.org/news/vista-hazmat
If you want to see if it gets picked up by the media and how the journalist assembles the story search Google news for [microsoft+hazmat] so far its on slashdot and digg.

Thank you very much Dominic I already browse the site and I think it could really help me a lot in doing my own press release. Thanks again! I'm also interested in the book that you're already downloading.

Wow... Perfect... I've been looking for this for a while -- all of the tutorials I read before didn't really help much. Thanks! :)
