A childish question.

I came to DP and met with you, Mr. 'X' and Mr. 'Y'. I told all of you that I have 5 caps in my bag. Out of 5, 2 caps are of black color and 3 are of white color. I asked all of you to stand in a queue and close your eyes. I put one cap on each of your heads and kept the remaining tow caps in my bag. Thereafter all of you opened your eyes. (So you did not see which color cap was your head.)

I asked Mr. 'X', who was in the last of the queue, can he tell me what is the color of the cap on his head. His reply was 'he couldn’t'. Then I asked Mr. 'Y', who was the second in the queue, the same question i.e. what is the color of the cap on his head. He also replied 'he couldn’t'.

You are the first in the queue. Now I asked you the same question i.e. what is the color of the cap on your head.

What will be your answer?

And here's the explanation...

Since you have 2 black caps and 3 white, and you keep 2 with you, the possibilities are that you will either keep one black and one white, OR both black, OR both white caps.

Now we rule out the possibilities.

Since Mr. 'X' said that he cant tell which cap he is wearing, it means that the next 2 people are not wearing both black caps. (If they were both wearing black,Mr. 'X' would have said that he is wearing white.)

** So, it could be that the ppl in front are either wearing both white, or one is wearing white and the other is wearing black.

This information is available to Mr. 'Y' who is standing second in the queue.

Now if I was wearing black, Mr. 'Y' could have said that he is wearing white (as it would have been the case one person wearing white and the other black). But since he said he couldn't tell, this means, that I'm definitely wearing white!
