A plan of attack for search improvement?

I'm in the process of rebuilding a site for someone that currently fails dismally for search engine ratings (see for yourself how it's built: http://www.profilehospitality.co.uk). I have made it clear that me re-crafting it in full HTML/CSS clean markup is only half the battle, but what the site owner needs to do is a bit of marketing/promotion after it's been handed over.

She is very technophobic (you should see some of the emails I've got as she tries to explain what needs to go on some pages!) and as such telling her in detail how to get some Googlejuice is very difficult. So, I was wondering if you've ever had this kind of situation?

What would be a simple set of steps - easy to follow by a technophobe! - that she could follow?

I fear that my advice wil be too technical and she won't do it and then won't maximise the value of her newly crafted (not yet public) site that I've worked on. And I don't want her to think I'v mis-sold her (as I *have* made it clear that I can't fix everything)

I would just tell her that she needs to build links to the site from other websites (paid links, directory links, press releases, etc...)

Also when she builds the links make sure she uses the right keyword phrases as the link text (anchor text) of the links pointing back to her site. As an example I would show her how to submit the site to a directory and explain the importance of choosing a good title for the submission.

If she still has problems understanding link building and promotion, then maybe she needs to outsource it. Just pay someone else to do directory submissions, link building compaigns, press releases, etc... (maybe you could add this to your list of services offered)

I could ... but I'm hoping to draw a line under it once the site is rebuilt (I've got her to buy Contribute to update site content in the editable areas - using Dreamweaver templates). I really don't want to have this hanging around me for the rest of my web developing life :-D
