A really simple CMS

looking for a CMS that's really simple (seriously, the thread title wasn't lying)

    looking to:

integrate a template i make in photoshop to the CMS
have a news section, where i can update news, and then have a news archive page
easily able to add links to the homepage

right, that's about it. joomla has this, but it also has way more other extraneous stuff that i don't want/need (like the registration/login. that will be useless for me)

    oh, and free too :)

maroon, care to post some links of sites you made with joomla?

jupiter seems pretty in depth. on the demo i see: calendar, events, poll, site stats, latest 5 topics, and debug. all are useless for me.

drupal appears to be more of a blogging CMS. am i wrong?

I would strongly suggest Website Baker which is designed well for simple sites and you will find it a breeze to convert your template to the CMS. I started template conversion to Website Baker recently and I'm loving it! It's the first CMS that I've found where you can get good results fast and is actually fun to take part in!

You will love how easy it is imo =)

however, what's this template conversion you speak of? is it for converting PSD templates to WB?

If you want a really simple CMS, you should try a site builder.
Just a small suggestion, there are Google Page Creator: pages.google.com
with which you can make really fast pages.
If you need a news section, you could use instead a blog. Google saves us again: you can create a blog with google. Try : blogger.com

NOTE: I'm sorry if I wasn't allowed to post links. I just wanted to give him the best tip... If they're not ok, I will remove them. Thanks

Joomla does not fit the critiera of "really simple CMS" at all. But anyway.

Not really PSD but it could be I guess. I was more referring to ready made HTML templates out there of which there are 10,000s by designers trying to make a name for themselves. With Website Baker you just add in a few lines of code and you're away. There's a good guide about this available in the "help" section on the Website Baker page.

You can check out the website showcase thread on the forums page at the website baker site.

I just created mine, a simple site for my business, and I am still working on it. I am using the allcss template for it but I haven't done any heavy modding since I am still a novice to php and css, but it's really easy and lightweight to use, and I think very configurable. The site is

    http://www.fileconversionservices.com/

If you also check out the site on scribbz signature (http://www.findskiresort.com/) it's powered by website baker. There are a lot of templates and plugins, good user manuals, and from the guide I read on the site, it's very easy to modify other templates and use them for your WB site, as well as to create fresh ones. There's also a nice community forum with a lot of helpful people, I was over there all of yesterday asking css questions.

    Definitely worth a look.
