A troll is relentlessly annoying me online!

    Hello.

I was going to add this to the legal section, but A, I didn't think it qualified as such, and B, there appears to be lots of spam in that section just now.

    Anyway...

A troll signed up at some Resident Evil forums, and spammed heavily, using the name of a member from a survival horror gaming news blog. He was banned, but came back using different pseudonyms and started posting normal. I didn't know he was the same guy, but he made a few BS threads about anxiety and autism, because he knows I have these two conditions. Then his handles (I'm sure it's the same guy, too) then uploaded avatars of people I know (like i.e. a former college mate) to intentionally reveal I was tricked, and the handles reply to each other's posts. He was giving links to forums more suited to this subject matter, prior to his deception.

He began registering at one message board with countless IDs about relationship advice. There aren't any active moderators, so he only gets banned very occasionally. But he post bombs the forums, abuses other members who see his crap, and he threatens me. He gets his alts to respond, to kid on he has support, and replies to just about every post I make with insults. He has over a dozen accounts, and possibly a lot of "sleepers" as well. He also got my friend's address from a horror themed YouTube video, then he sent people to his door, saying I was selling things. He still stalks me on other forums, by visiting my page and reading my topics. Members that are not signed in can't browse a user's posts, so I can sometimes see who is looking at my profiles.

Since then, I've been relentlessly hassled by this guy at multiple websites. He knows I've posted about my quarrel with IMDb.com over Sylvester Stallone at other forums, for example, and he even stalked me to Wikipedia soon thereafter, and reverted my edits, but he got banned. It's a long story, but I basically found Stallone in movies (not ones where he was credited) and the site deleted these credits, even though I gave proof and they approved the credits before. This troll knows I'm an actor too, so he uploads screenshots from my videos and designs fake posters, and edits entries for these films I submitted, which is very annoying. He tagged them so he can go hunting for them when they come out on DVD, or whatever, to look for my role in each movie. Now, I know I cannot do anything about that as acting is like walking around in public with your pants down, so to speak. But he's a stalking mentalist.

He also posted on the GetSatisfaction support site, with an alias I found out was one of his Wikipedia sockpuppets (and trust me - he has tons). He accidentally posted under a New Zealand IP address on Wikipedia as well, and these accounts were blocked and tagged. He also liked a bunch of films on IMDb.com and one that was flagged by him with the others (all mainly my movies) was a New Zealand film named Rabid. His Wikipedia accounts have lots of New Zealand themed edits as well, which is a possible giveaway that he may be in New Zealand. I've tried reporting the IP address to a company called Xtra, but I did not get a reply.

Wikia is like Wikipedia, but it is not as well moderated anymore. He began harassing me there as well, and made an account with a similar name to mine and abused me. He got banned for vandalizing pages after I reported him, but it's so easy in this day and age to use a VPN, so he came back and edited a lot of pages I started again, and uploads images.

The love advice site is experiencing a lot of downtime, but that is where he harasses me the most, using the handles, Slackjaw, Toilet, Frank's Flat, Limpy and others.

Here is examples of his abuse.

    http://acting.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Contributions/Tobyblue25

    http://acting.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Contributions/25e

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Escapement/Archive

Got any suggestions on what I can do other than just ignoring him? He's very persistent.

So after being a member of "Love Forum" for over 5 years, my account was banned this week due to that troll post bombing and demanding I be banned, or else he would continue to attack the site. So like a pussy, the site admin deleted him yet again, but banned me too.

I didn't want the guy coming there, but he did because of (see my first post). Well, that's really also their fault for leaving a community forum like that with no effing moderators. That's just ridiculous. It would be like if people all of a sudden left Digital Point and there wasn't anyone to maintain it. Then idiots like the guy I described would come and do sad things to ruin the last of one's enjoyment, because yes, there are scumbags that find this behavior rather amusing. However, forums in this day and age are rather niche now, I've noticed. They're never that active much due to everybody using self-indulgent sites like Facebook and Twitter instead. Screw Facebook!

But still: What a pathetic little douche bag that moron is.

First up: if you feel unsafe make sure you report this guy to your local police

Next, I'm in NZ and Xtra are a big telco who are not likely to respond, we do however have Police who take cyber threats seriously (tried and tested, unfortunately) and another group called NetSafe.

I suspect that if you dig around enough you'll find you've crossed physical paths with this guy - you stole his crush, beat him at an audition, took his carpark - something petty that he's blown out of proportion. Unfortunately, that means he's stealing your ability to enjoy being online and probably to self-promote too.

I read a great article about a woman who was having a similar experience and was able to track the guy down and phoned his Mum - that sorted things out quickly.

My main bit of advice is: don't be seen to engage. Keep in touch with the people whose identities he's stealing and apologise and recommend they report it to the Police. It may look like just a photo, but make no mistake, it's identity theft.

Do you think the police is going to care about something like this? My wife's picture was used by some punk on one social media site. And the guy (mostly likely it was a he) was posting some pretty vile content. My wife contacted the support and they were like: "Well, we can't do anything about that. Sorry.". Luckily the support contacted the guy too and he took the pic down. The point is nobody really cares about forum, social media trolls or identity thieves anymore since the issue is so widespread.

Granted, I don't really care about trolls either. There's too many to bother dealing with. They can call me names until the cows come home. Someone even once said I could write a book based entirely on all the grief I've suffered because of them, because they did far more than just calling me names. However, trolls are unique little creatures. They know just calling someone derogatory remarks isn't annoying enough, so they now go on Wikipedia and other forums with no moderators, and post my personal information. That in itself is kind of dumb. What forum have you been on over the years that doesn't even have moderators? And no, those crappy free ones shouldn't count. It appears some people are now confused on the other forums about why I'm banned.

They will probably think I'm one of the spammers, so that's why it has N/A under my name. I've never asked to be banned, because that's allowing this cretin to declare a victory. I'd sent an email to the admin saying it was time to bring back moderators, and I even recommended a few people from there, that I thought could take up the position, because they log in all the time. So that would have made more sense than banning me. On the other hand, I reckon anybody stupid enough to leave a site with nobody to look after it probably shouldn't even be in charge of running a site anyway. That's my take on this whole mess.

The ban doesn't 100% bother me, but it was disheartening to a degree. It was one of the last few forums I really still liked visiting. And if they're going to be weak pussies about this situation and ban a person because one troll throws his toys out of the pram, that's actually pretty damn sad. Sad, as in pathetic to the core.

    ok ok I'll stop...

jkin, but do you know this person outside of the internet. Also not trying to make you sound sexist, but if you don't know the person is, why can't it be a woman?

There could be more to this than just "hate". Maybe an ex?

Sorry. I did not see your post until now, hence the late response.

Anyway, he did post his real name on "Love Forum" a while ago, before the user's posts got removed. He then must have realized he messed up. He posted the same things again, but added in other names, which might have been a tactic to mask the original error. He also removed a photo on Facebook, after I baited him on another forum that I know he visits, which indicates strongly that it's the very person I think it is, because then he messaged me denying he knew what I was accusing him of, even though he messaged me first without me initiating contact on Facebook. Well, I am not sure how he even found me on Facebook anyway, as I normally don't allow anybody to look me up in the directory, so that means people would require the link. This should indicate that he stalked me from wherever my Facebook was linked from, because then how would anybody have found me? It's not like anyone is going to take precious time out of their day to go through the bother of hunting for a link, unless they're truly obsessed (like my stalker is).

I'm sure it's this C. Morse from New Jersey. He once ran a survival horror games related website, and I was harassed on all these fan forums for a long time. It made me truly agitated and depressed, because they even made a page about me at Encyclopedia Dramatica and everything, which is painstakingly hard to get deleted. I know that what happens online is usually just your normal, petty online stuff, but it is still unpleasant when you have to resort to not promoting yourself anymore. Now with me being an actor (kind of) and people promote stuff on IMDb.com, it means he can follow me around based on what gets submitted on there and YouTube. Etc. There's not much that can be done here, but I have reported many images he posted on there, so maybe he will give up eventually.

I'm now banned on Biohaze, too. I saw that the troll in question had his email addresses on his profiles, publicly displayed to anybody who is logged in. He used those temporary 'receive only' addresses that anybody can access (example: cuvox.de) and so I got into his accounts, and changed his password and email addresses to AOL ones, so they banned me, plus him, but I reckon that since they didn't care about his abuse of me anyway, it's no big deal to me that I'm gone.

Don't worry about the troll. Don't let him get to you. By letting him bother you he is winning, right?

Just change your email, move your persona elsewhere he can't bother you.

I've contacted the police in Belleville. Do you know if they actually act on complaints from people overseas? Three times, a trooper cut me off when he realized I was international, but they should still be investigating this guy's harassment of me.

    From:
    pandersonactor <>
    To: mminichini <>
Subject: Abuse from a man in New Jersey.
    Date: Mon, 13 Nov 2017 17:06
    Dear Chief of Belleville Police,

I wish to report a man who I believe currently lives in Belleville, and who has relentlessly harassed me online for much of this year. His full name is Christopher (name withheld), and his parents are Carole (name withheld) and Richard (name withheld). I'm not sure where his parents reside now, but his mother may still reside at apartment 5, number 471 (address withheld) Street, in Belleville. Another known relative is James F. Morse.

Mr Morse is well known to myself; he used to run a website about a video game franchise, entitled evilunleashed.net, but the site no longer exists. However, he harasses me non stop across multiple websites which are similar to the one he co-founded, with dozens of accounts. When these accounts are reported and hereby banned by the staff in charge of these websites, he then proceeds to create new ones using a VPN, so the cycle repeats. I've observed him signing up more than 50 accounts on at least one site, then posting nothing but vile content. Normally, I'd try hard to ignore this type of behavior the best I can, but it has gone beyond the stage of simply ignoring him. He threatened the owner of a certain website intended for relationship advice. He told the members there in a public post that unless they agreed to ban me (my handle was Peter SC), he would unleash "spam hell."

Over the past year, Mr Morse has did the following acts:

-Stolen my videos and added them to torrent sites.
-Created multiple IDs on forums, and posted abuse.
-Stalked me at wikia.com and wikipedia.org, with many accounts.
-Posted obscene pornographic images at loveforum.net, etc.
-Used other people's pictures, as his featured photos.
-Messaged me on social media, such as i.e. my personal (hidden) Facebook.
-Vandalized and/or submitted entries on film databases I found shortly afterwards.
-Obtained my friend's address, who resides in Edinburgh, Scotland.
-Sent people to my friend's home, after submitting fake sales ads online.
-Joined a customer service site for imdb.com, with aliases to pretend he was offering support.
-Submitted fake poster/art for films I am in, and tagged them to his imdb.com subscription list.

This type of attention is extremely creepy and undesirable. I am not friends with this guy at all, but we simply have been members of the same forums, due to having a mutual interest in video games. I'm an actor and therefore rely on imdb.com for documenting my work. He and similar users who contribute on these video game related message boards have harassed me non stop for over 15 years. They also created a page about me in 2008 at a website called "Encyclopedia Dramatica," which is painstakingly difficult to have removed. This site is populated by malicious members who have added a lot of personal details and images of myself. Scores of users assocated with Mr Morse have edited this article across a decade, but the users who operate the site choose to hide their hosting details with a VPN in European territories, and have relocated many times when people have gotten close to filing a complaint. Only once did I get the page removed through a DMCA violation report, which then returned 6 months later, and has remained visible ever since. Furthermore, older pages are archived.

If you want me to submit images of his abusive edits and comments, or provide links, I can do so. However, I must warn you that the content is very offensive, and I don't want Mr Morse harassing me any longer. He is harassing me as he believes I wronged him quite a number of years ago. I'd not actually knowingly heard from this guy in around 10 years. It was only after I replied to posts on a forum, that were seemingly benevolent in nature, that his deception was fully confirmed when he began following me around other websites based on the links I gave away, and when he discovered I had gotten roles in films, he targeted my entries on imdb.com and Wikia. When I saw that he added fake posters, I reported these. More soon appeared, and this is the pattern across many such websites.

Please reply as soon as you can, as I am concerned about my safety due to the information he has gathered about myself.

    Regards, Mr Peter Anderson.

I despair for the American justice system - 2 months ago I thought you'd see some action, today, hell, they're debating electing a paedophile and loads of people think that's ok!

Yep. These bloody American authorities don't do anything about the genuine abuse of guys like me, unless of course you cough up the dough. And also, I see that idiot has gone and just erased a *WHOLE* film database about me, as well.

Well, the system (that is causing you to despair) here in the U.S. actually believes that a citizen is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and that mere accusations should not be used against someone until they are proven beyond a reasonable doubt. That goes for candidates running for election...or should we have locked up Hillary based on the numerous allegations against her?

Regarding @Johnny Mnemonic 's letter and calls to U.S. law enforcement, I am not sure of the international laws and how jurisdictions play out for such things (e.g., if a crime took place, in whose jurisdiction did it happen?) Perhaps the victim should start with his own local law enforcement people as that is the locale where he was victimized and see how they want to approach the crime. Perhaps they need to investigate the events and then they need to reach out to their colleagues in NJ for assistance with a criminal complaint? My thinking is that if someone was robbed at gunpoint in Europe by an American citizen, it is up to the European police to go after the American, no?

See my comments above which I was obviously typing as you made this post. Have you reported this harassment to your local police?

No, but I do have a lawyer. I don't think he knows much about computer misuse. Although I could ask around, and save screenshots.

Just talk to your local law enforcement people. It will be free and if they are not the right people to talk to, they should be willing to at least point you in the right direction.

It's gotten to a point now where I might as well let the idiot do whatever the fuck he wants. By reacting to it the way I do, that just gives him satisfaction knowing I am cross. There's too much "cyberbulling" and shitty cunts out there that just have no life whatsoever, so why fight them?!

This would probably be the most productive approach for you for this person and all of the future jerks that you will run into. The nice thing about cyber-bullying, for the most part, is that it can only hurt you or bother you if you let it do so. To paraphrase an old axiom, "Ignoring the bully and living well is the best revenge."

and it sounds as if he's not subtle - so people won't think content is real. I edited a wikipedia page and added unpleasant truths in a factual, brief manner. They didn't last long, although wikipedia slapped an advertisement warning on the page. Everything I added was verifiable if you knew to ask the question. Your guy, he's not doing that, right?
