About article directory/submission scripts

Hi, whats the opinion on article directory scripts?

A few examples are like articlems, article dashboard, the article beach script (I think thats what they call it, sold for $2 at Ebay a while ago)...

These scripts are meant to build article directory sites like ezinearticles, goarticles, isnare....etc. Its just like directories, but here writers submit articles with their backlinks, and we as the webmaster just need to approve them.

Just how good are these type of sites for Adsense, coz the sales pitch for the scripts is that article directories are good for that...and we dont create the content but others do. I wonder how good, cos I see many of them have really high Alexa rankings meaning alot of traffic but would not those traffic be webmaster traffic who just come to submit their articles and other webmasters come to take the articles for their own sites?

Furthermore many of them also get abandoned after a while...I suppose there's not much to be made? Do any end users actually go there to read the tons of articles there and find them useful?

I think maybe a niche is much better, compared to general themes, I wouldnt myself go read the articles there (as an End User), there is a perception those articles are fluff...but would niche article directories fare better? Whats the jury on this?

Well, I think I meaning here those sites that users have to register and login. Sites like ezinearticles or goarticles...

The reason I'm asking is coz there is a domain I registered that is probably best for a site like this, although it could also be a magazine or news kind of site. But whats the difference apart from looks?

Maybe I'm a bit confused, but scripts like PHPCow are not the same as a script like the ArticleDashboard script which should be called an article directory script?

Yeah, so just not knowing how good are such sites in terms of management ease, profitibility, etc. There's like tons of normal directories, would such article directories fare any better?

    Thanks for any replies.

well those sites are custom scripts and if you are serious, i would recruit a progammer to meet all you needs...

Articlesdashboard.com looks great.. if that script includes everytthing on their site, I would go for it...

Like you said there are soooooo many of these popping up, that i would rather work with a niche (large one that is).

I wouldn't let that stop you though...

    Good Luck
