    I think it depends at least partly on your niche. Sometimes niche sites drive more traffic, especially in the beginning.

    Facebook seems to be the most popular in the social networking scene. 90% of the people I know use it. 100% of the people I know are aware of it. Can't say that for ping.fm, etc.
    Twitter is close second IMHO.
