    Hi all,

    I'm working on the backend (will be highly modified Joomla) for my new project at http://www.wudangquan.com . . .

    The site will cover several specific areas:
    • Internal Martial Arts (Tai Chi, Baguazhang, Hsing Yi, Yi Chuan, etc)
    • Taoism
    • Chinese history and culture
    • Traditional Chinese Medicine
    • Alternative health and wellness for the baby boomer crowd
    etc.

    And I know that it's a big deal and people don't want to disclose their url's and stuff, but there's really nothing to scrape at this point.

    Here are some of the things I'm doing with Joomla that I hope will make the
    1. site more usable and interesting to people:
    2. Voting on every article, with a 'popular' section
    3. highly hacked community server, that's almost like myspace, with profile comments, friends lists, etc.
    4. Fireboard Forum
    5. Free (initially, anyhow) classifieds
    6. Wiki
    7. Registered member blogs
    8. Member photo galleries
    9. One click translation of content
    10. Easy video inclusion from Youtube, Google Video, etc.
    11. Highly hacked EnduranceLog component, which is an app that lets users input their daily training details, (and hacked to allow posting video of themselves as well), and graphic reports for weekly/monthly data, with the ability for other users to comment, for members of a coaching group to 'coach', etc.

    I mention all of this, because I want to give a better idea of what I'm looking for.

    Actually I'm also not sure about what I'm looking for, but I'm trying to create a total user experience for my visitors once they come.

    As I mentioned, in the front-end you'll have the magazine/content (again this is why I'm not worried about people stealing, etc. - they don't have the authority contacts that I have).

    In the back will be all the web 2.0 stuff. Forums, training log component, commenting on all content, voting, profiles/comments/friends lists/etc., classifieds, and so on.

    So my question is two fold:

    1. Does anyone have a suggestion for me about some kind of innovative application or service I could provide to people on the site that is specifically relevant, or which could be relevant to my niche? If it's not off the shelf, I'm willing to source the development of it.

    2. I want to seamlessly integrate several affiliate programs into a seamless buying experience. Anyway to do this?
