AdSense code has made a mess of everything

    Dear Friends,

I am almost computer illiterate but still I set out to make a website everything seemed perfect till I got accepted in the adsense programme. Only at that point my host informed me that the site wizard I was using did not work with adsense. Days of reading and surfing has lead me nowhere.

I have downloaded my site onto my desktop using ftp surfer but opening it with frontpage disturbs the template. With my almost negligible knowledge, I have absolutely no idea what to do.

Please help me. I am beyond the point of desperation.

For your reference my site is www.earnsafelyonline.com

In order to manually add the adsense code into your pages, you should know at least some HTML, otherwise you won't know where to exactly put the code where you want. At last, it's just a copy paste game but you need to know exactly where to paste that code, otherwise you won't have the ads in your desired spot :)

Yes knowing little or no HTML will not help you at ALL.

I'm 15 I tought myself html/php and someother languages to myself when I was 11. I got an HTML basics book from the library and read it from front to back.

    Thanks for your reply.
I have been reading up on HTML and I can now paste the codes where I want them (as I have done with the other ads). My problem is that my site wizard does not accept Java and I don't know how to transfer my site, template and all, to front page.
Thanks for your reply once again. I really appreciate it.

That's the problem a site wizard won't help you make a succesfull website. It will hold you back because they are slow and they have problems like not allowing javascript etc. Learn HTML to the point where you don't need the wizard.

Do you know how use an FTP? I think this maybe your problem.

I went through a similar experience years ago, starting with a site wizard. When you reach the point you need to stop using the tool, it is difficult to get away from it. Certain elements may be exclusive to the site wizard, or it may use non-standard coding.

Likely in your case the wizard did not allow javascript. If you post the name of the tool maybe someone will know about it.

What exactly is wrong with the template? If it is just a matter of images not showing, looking at the source code the images are not absolute path, so they would not show up in Frontpage till the pages were uploaded.

Yes I have learnt to use ftp. I have downloaded ftp surfer and can reach the root directory. From here I downloaded the site onto my desktop and opened it with MS Frontpage. The text, ads, etc were perfect but the template was quite jumbled. I can't afford to loose my template because I don't know how to make another one.
Besides my advertisers are asking for results and I can't advertise my site till it is complete, so even though I am on a very steep learning curve I need to get this problem sorted double quick.

    Hello Jazzylee77

Do you mean the images will show when I upload the pages even though they are jumbled during editing?

    Hello once again,

I have been doing a lot of trial and error for the last hour and the progress is this. Even thought the site looks jumbled during editing it looks perfect once uploaded. I have tried to paste the adsense code through MS script editor (source) in MS front page as directed by the help pages, but it shows as a raw code. Will it appear as normal google ads when uploaded? Sorry for being such a nuisance but someone out there please help...

Probably. Your use of the word jumbled makes me hesitate. Jumbled tells me the images are there but not aligned the way you want.

You could do this to get it all straight while still in Frontpage.

Right click on an image while in Frontpage's design view. Select picture properties then the general tab. The first box shows the pictures address. If it is somthing like img/titles/mt.gif , it will need to be changed to http://www.earnsafelyonline.com/img/titles/mt.gif to be viewed in frontpage. You could try this to change them all at once. go to code view and in the edit menu click replace.

    For find: enter img/

    For replace: enter http://www.earnsafelyonline.com/img

Click "replace all" then check to make sure nothing got messed up in the process. To undo in code view use "control z"

ok forget my previous post then

The google ad code appears where? In design view? In preview view? It should not be seen in either. Are you sure you included the whole code? If part is left out it may not be seen as a script.

    Hello
Have been at trial and error once again. I opened the root folder with ftp surfer and used the edit function to open my site in MSFP then pasted the code in source view. Now finally the ads are showing. I have put a test ad on site map page. The reason everything was going wrong was because somehow everything was getting stored in a new folder which I didn't know existed. Now I have deleted it and everything is working fine.

I am really and truly thankful to you for all your help.
