Adsense on Wordpress

Discussion in 'Placement / Reviews / Examples' started by kniveswood, Sep 13, 2005.

This is weird, I placed Adsense(Link unit) on every page of a new blog. Pages of individual posts shows relevant ads. But the homepage, containing all my posts, shows "Web Design" and "Webmaster Resources" ads. I do not have any post of that sort.

Anyone knows how to fix that?

You have to be very patient, you may have to tweak things, and wait. In some cases, you may never figure out why certain ads appear. I have some blogs that are have very strongly targeted ads, I have others that display 80% ads about blogs. All my blogs are in WordPress.

However I have found that (from a suggestion made here in another thread) that the page title and the blog title may have a strong influence. Simply change the Blog title caused a change of ads within a few minutes.

Using Adsense section targetting can help, but it requires carefull change of your PHP generated HTML.

    Just use Opera.

This Problem is known. A very good trick is:
Install the browser "Opera" and go with Opera to your Blog or Site. Within the next hours/days you will have relevant ads!!
Also the Sitetitel/Blogtitel is importent as macdesign mentioned and also the domaintitel.

It worked for me. I think because Opera has also Adsense on it from Google and maybe Google spider this somehow. You can see in Opera your site in which context google your site sees. But my english is very bad!! Try it yourself.

I searched in Google now for that and found threads about this in the german ABAKUS Forum:

    http://www.abakus-internet-marketing.de/foren/viewtopic/t-4055/highlight-opera.html

    http://www.abakus-internet-marketing.de/foren/viewtopic/t-16869/highlight-opera.html

    But you must translate it.

And translate this EXPLANATION into english:
Opera schickt unabhängig von diesem den Media Partners Bot los (auch auf Seiten, die kein Adsense eingebunden haben). Opera lockt den Googlebot an.

It works! As you can read in the ABAKUS Forum.

    Bye till later,
    lg Wally

    Thanks you Jumle and fcmisc.

fcmisc: that was very fast! good.

    by the way:
it works not only on blogs. It works on every website!!!

So, when someone here make a new topic thread with "my ads are ot showing or not relevand" than tell him to use opera. That solves really the problem.

I will stay here at DP-Forums so I can learn more english. That is good. :)

Doesnt seem to work for me. My homepage still showing those web design ads.

My guess is your fix is just a way to make the MediaPartner bot visit your page and then determine relevant ads for you.

For my case, there seem to be something else causing this. =(

Are you all sure that Opera is the reason why your pages started showing relevant ads? Come on, this is not voodoo...

    My realistic explanation:
While installing and opening Opera you spend some time. Googlebot spiders your page by then. You get relevant ads. Nothing more, nothing less. My 2 cents on this.

I don't buy the Opera explanation myself. Relevant ads on blogs seem to come as soon as Google starts doing extensive spidering.

My daily blog has been around long enough now that the main page actually seems to feed random topics in from past popular discussions within the blog entries. Kinda cool! It works really well for my site, which is also powered by wordpress.

One thing is, you can go in and get rid of the word BLOG on your page, or use those keen Google tags to make the googlebots hone in on content.
