AdSense tip I learned the hard way

    On a couple of sites, I'm doing the image next to the AdSense block, with the divider. Everything was fine until two days ago my CTR dropped like a rock. I couldn't figure it out. After a few refreshes, I saw that sometimes the text ads were turning into image ads. People don't seem to click on the image ads nearly as much as the text ads.

    So my advise...if you have your own images aligned with the text units, be sure to change the AdSense code in your HTML from

    google_ad_type = "text_image";
    Code (markup):
    to

    google_ad_type = "text";
    Code (markup):
    so that you'll only get text ads.

    In my particular case, the click through rate completely fell for image ads. Maybe in yours, it's different.

    still agree its low rate but its a clicks some of ppl didnt hit the text and hit the images

    lets take dp as example most of us know dp founder is one of most exepert in adsense and u can see images ad if he knows its boring stuff he could use text only

    People automatically know to ignore image ads, IMHO. But when you blend text ads with your own images properly...nothing can beat that CTR!

    I alway use Image/Text ads

    It gives a better look to the site, instead of the old boring text links

    Peace,

    my opinion is that it depends on your site content and where is your ad located. picture ads work fine for me.

    I agree with MrX. Adsense image ads are worthless unless you have tons of traffic to compensate. ValueClick's image ads are better because they encourage the viewer to interact with the ad. The CTr is high with valueClick's ads.

    I get close to zero CTR with image ads on my bigger sites. Text ads are where it's at.

    Well blended text ads go along way to overcoming ad blindness in seasoned surfers. I've found that image ads are most ignored.

    I've read ton of Adsense books. Looked over tons of forums. I've even done trial and error.

    Text Ads by far! have 100% better results than image advertisments.

    Do some research
    Think about
    Then try it for yourself.

    ..or instead of modifying the code, it is better that you select text mode during the creation of your adesense code.

    text ads are the best. However i want people's opinion regarding video ads. What is the CTR/CTM of video ads.

    Do people click on them?

    Text ads are going to generally give you a higher CTR. When people see image ads, they usually know it is an ad. Have no idea about the video ads so can't really comment, but I would think video ads would best suit sites that have lots of videos like YouTube.
